I've been shaving my head for years and have tried A LOT of different rotary shavers during that time. Four heads. Five heads. Ten heads with a coffee maker and a lawn mowing option. None of those rotary shavers have ever given the kind of smooth, clean shave most bald guys are seeking, no matter how many bells and whistles they add in, and they're prone to razor rash and lots of mechanical issues. For a long time, using a real razor or something like the HeadBlade was the only way to get that truly clean shave, but there's always a risk of nicking the scalp with that type of razor.After my last rotary razor bit the dust after less than a month of use, I was ready to try something else. I read reviews of foil razors like this one, offered by bald guys, all of them proclaiming a quality foil razor like this one to be "The Truth" when it comes to keeping your head as smooth and supple as....yes, here comes the old cliche, as cringe as it is...a baby's butt. It's not just lip service. It's true. This razor really does shave that smooth, and it does so quickly, easily and without any razor rash (a godsend for someone like me who has sensitive skin, particularly around my neck area). I've been using this Andis Profoil for about a month and still utter "Wow!" after every shave. It shaves just as cleanly and closely as my HeadBlade, with zero chance of catching a nick in my scalp. It may be even better than the HeadBlade because I can work difficult to shave spots (like cowlicks) from multiple angles more easily, so my shave is ultimately much more thorough and clean overall. I can even use it on my face with minimal irritation (something I've never been able to use any electric razor for). And since it doesn't need to be rinsed under the faucet for cleaning, it's always ready to go if I discover a spot I missed or that needs a touch-up during the day.Here are my pros & cons on this razor:Pros:- Extremely clean and smooth shave, every bit as good as a traditional razor- Faster (and much smoother) shave than a rotary razor- No razor rash- Easy maintenance (just brush it out after each use and run a Q-tip with some rubbing alcohol along the foil every now and again to pick up excess oil and hair dust to limit breakouts; no rinsing or tricky dismantling involved as most rotary razors requireCons:- This razor can get pretty loud- The foils on razors like this can get dented and dinged pretty easy if you don't protect them- Can leave hair dust in its wake that can remain on your scalp or fall onto your shoulders are the immediate area around you (easily brushed off, however)Since my razor is still relatively new, time will speak to its durability, but holding it in your hand and using it leaves no doubt that this is a high quality product made with care and love by people who intend for it to last a good long while.If you've been on the fence on whether this type of razor is a good solution for shaving your head, or you're fed up with rotary razors or true razors that sometimes bite you while you're trying to use them, you owe it to yourself to give this one a try. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised by how well it performs. I know I was. There's a reason barbers rely on this razor and others like them.

I originally bought this to shave my face because my barber used it on my face and it was just like I had used a blade. But sadly, it hasn't been that great for my face like in the barber shop. The three-head Norelco is better for that (and a blade is the best).But...when I tried to use it to shave my head...oh, my God! It was amazing! It shaves very close, very quickly. I can get my whole head done in about 10-15 minutes, whereas trying to use a three-head rotary shaver would take about 40+ minutes and not only would I have mediocre results, but I would have extreme shoulder and arm fatigue. I don't get any fatigue using the Andis shaver.It's supposed to be used dry, but I've had experiences where I've come out of the shower and for some reason my head is sweating and I'd have to wait to use the rotary shaver, even if you're supposed to be able to use it wet. I've used the Andis shaver with my head slightly sweating and it still cuts close and quick. And cleaning the shaver is simple and easy.I'd buy it just to shave my head alone. I still use a blade for my face, but this is my go-to head shaver from now on!

I am completely blown away by this shaver. I wish I had found it much earlier.(Side Note: The Seller sent me the updated 2023 - 2024 version of this same model. The box is different but the razor is the same with a few upgrades).Let me preface my review by stating that NO Electric razor will shave you as close as a bladed razor. If you want a blade close shave use a bladed razor or go to a professional barber. Unfortunately that's the truth.I also need to mention that I do NOT have the perfect round head for shaving. I have several wrinkles and deep grooves along with some moles on my head which makes shaving it a timely process and one where I have to be very careful NOT to cut the moles.This review will be a comparison with a very popular rotary shaver I had been using prior to receiving the Andis product.With that out of the way, on to the review....I have been shaving my head off and on for years now. When I decided to start again earlier this year I spent a LOT of money on rotary shavers and related blades and accessories from another company that promises a "90 second dry head shave". After using clippers to get my hair down as short as possible I started using these rotaries. A 90 second dry shave left my head looking like it was covered in dirt and I could feel the stubble they left behind very clearly. This resulted in me shaving my head 2 or 3 times a day to try and get a clean look. While the rotaries did not do any damage to the moles on my head (a positive feature) they did not allow me to get into the wrinkles and grooves affectively despite me trying EVERY blade setup this particular company used. So I tried wet shaving with the rotaries which got me a closer shave but I still needed to finish up with a bladed razor, and I couldn't use that in the areas with the moles. Then there was the 45 + minutes to properly clean & maintain the rotaries. it was taking me 90 minutes, not 90 seconds to shave my head and cleanup all the while while I wasn't happy with the outcome.Frustrated and ready to give up I decided to turn to the internet for some help and I saw that many guys had switched from these same rotaries to foil shavers, and the Andis was recommended the most as THE one to get. I figured it couldn't be any worse that what I had been doing so I found the Andis here on Amazon at a great price and with a free cleaning brush thrown in. Man, am I ever glad I bought the Andis!!!This razor shaves my head so close it's almost as good as a bladed razor. It takes me about 7 - 10 minutes to shave my head, and with cleanup and maintenance a total of about 15 minutes to get a super smooth super close shave and I only have to do it once a day!!! I can shave right over the moles with no damage to them whatsoever (Hugely Important), and this Andis even gets the hair in the wrinkles and grooves that the rotary shavers missed!!!I have gone from a 90 minute routine multiple times a day with disappointing results (rotaries) to a 15 minute maximum routine (Andis Foil Shaver) that leaves me feeling clean smooth and incredibly happy with the results.I will never go back to the rotaries as long as Andis continues to make such a great product.Guys, whether you are looking to start shaving your head for the first time or are looking to step up your game to the closest shave you can get without using a bladed razor the Andis Profoil Lithium Plus Titanium Foil Shaver is THE one to buy! You'll thank yourself later.
