Amigurumi

I've made the cubcake, the baby bunny, the puppy, the panda, and now working on the tiger and chick. They are super adorable and are just the right size. They are easy to make, but there are some mistakes in the patterns. For example, this is for part of the chick:Round 1: Dc around. 10 stsRound 2: (2dc into each st. 20 sts)Rounds 3 - 6: Dc around. 10 stsFor part of the baby bunny, from 24 sts, it says to 2dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc = 32 sts. My math says that's 30 sts, not 32 sts.I can usually catch it and either unravel the stitches or make adjustments, but it's definitely disappointing that they didn't take the time to proofread the patterns.Still, the photos are cute and the patterns seem to be arranged from easy to difficult. The book also uses UK crochet terms (double crochet = single crochet). I would still recommend it but would just warn others to watch out for mistakes in the patterns.

This book has a lot of fun projects. I've made five of them so far. One thing to be aware of is that this is written in UK terms so US crocheters will need to make the changes. The one issue with the patterns is that every one I have made has had at least one math error in the pattern and some have multiple errors so it took some time to sort through and make corrections. Overall, I'm happy with the book and will make more projects from it.

I borrowed this from my local library but had to get my own copy once I tried some out. Some of the instructions are wrong (like on the robot) but most things crochet up really quick. I make toys for my dog from this book. Cheaper and last longer than the ones at the store.

I took a chance on this book and it was well worth it. I am an international buyer, so English is not my first language but I could follow the instructions with no particular problems. I love almost all of the patterns and will certainly try to make as many as time permits. I also own Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet and if I had to choose, Amigurumi (Cozy) is my favorite. I already made the frog and bunny and got excellent feed back from my daughter and friends. I have not yet found any mistakes and the finished products I made were just like the ones in the book. I was inspired by the book and learned a few basic tricks while making toys, so now I am designing or changing patterns to my liking. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to get started on making amigurumi.

I like the different animals that are featured in this book, however, the instructions are not very clearly written. I had to improvise to create the toy which I wanted to crochet.

Even more critters to crochet! This will keep my friend busy all yearlong. Book arrived in excellent shape. Thank you.

24yr old female.I was a beginner when i brought this - I had crocheted nothing more then a basic headband (rather loosely!) and could only remember the Double stich (dc /sc) off the top of my head along with basic chains.I brought some books so i could complete more projects and found this fine for me to read, follow and understand.So far i've made the dinosaur, panda twice, chicken, fish and hope to make the bunny in the tutu soon.They've all been gifts to others and they've all been received very well.My crochet has improved ten-fold since because ive simply made so many things already and have even wrote a few new patterns myself for my own gifts.So i cant complain! Thanks!

I found out about Amigurumi through a friend who owned this book and had made some of the toys in the book. So I learned the basics of crochet to try and make these cute toys. Magic circle, which is one of the basic technique that you need is great once you figure it out but it did take me quite a while to get it as the instructions aren't very clear. However, as they were so cute, I persevered and started with a penguin, then giraffe, panda, egg bear, mouse, dinosaur and now making some ballerina bunnies. If you are really determined to try and make some of these cute toys, I would recommend this book to you despite mistakes and flaws but it's best to start with easy ones like a mouse or an eggbear before moving on to more difficult ones like the dinosaur. There are some mistakes in the instructions, which can be alittle confusing but having the written instruction as well as the table is really good as it makes it quicker and easier for you to make different parts. I often found that I could work around and figure out and correct the mistake myself. Another downfall to this book is that, it doesn't give you clear instructions on how to sew or attach all the parts together which is quite difficult. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners unless you are really determined like I was to persevere with it because I found it to be worth all the struggles and time I spent to figure it out as they are so cute and great to give as presents. I've also learned to adapt the patterns a bit to make it look slightly different. Although this book isn't perfectly accurate, I personally found this to be one of the best investments that I've made in a craft/crochet book as I've made a great use out of it and worth all the challenges that I've been through with it as the results are great. I'm not sure if this is the case for most crocheting things, but it helps to know your timestables (multiplications) or if you are mathematical.

This is a good source for ideas for cute toys, but is really not ideal for beginners to crochet. The techniques section at the back is not at all clear and there are errors in a number of the patterns. I have made 4 characters so far and they have all been wrong in some way. If you have made other amigurumi and are familiar with how to increase and decrease then you can amend the patterns fairly easily, but it would be very frustrating otherwise. It also uses the magic circle to start which is excellent for toys and my preferred method, but does not explain it well and it does take some practice. So 4 stars because I do like the designs, but it is flawed.

The book has really cute easy to follow patterns but I was really disappointed in the toy sizes that came out with suggested hook size.Every one came out huge,not the small cute amigurumi would would expect.Also some of the patterns made weird shaped heads,didn't get on with this pattern styling at all.Didnt produce good results.

I bought this book when I was still mastering the chain stitch, so I had zero crocheting proficiency. Once I had a rough idea of how to do the basics, this book helped hone the skills and consumed my time (in a good way) with cute projects.It's clear and easy to read, and even has a section with diagrams to instruct on the basic stitches and skills needed to produce the patterns. I can't say whether the guide is great however as any pictoral instruction on crocheting I encountered just baffled me... My only true aid in learning stitches and techniques was youtube. In saying that, when I looked back at the pictures to remind myself of certain stitches, I did find the guide useful. So perhaps I just don't have a good eye for learning by picture!

I have never really done much crochet before - only squares for blankets - and had never followed a crochet pattern before. My book arrived yesterday and after a little practice I am now the proud owner of an amigurumi mouse! I can't wait to try some of the other delightful little animals in the book.

Lovely book but all of the patterns are in the big book also called Amigurumi. I should not have bought both.

I've made several things from this book. I must admit this is one of my favourites. A really good book for your collection

A great little book with some cute characters in it and easy to follow instructions. Can be tweaked to come up with new characters.
