Q: When used for protecting mains electricity for outdoor lighting, how deep should the conduit be buried (Hituf cable)?

Deeper than you are likely to cut it with a fork or a spade. How about putting a row of tiles or bricks on top of it to give it protection?

Q: what do you require to join together for long runs, cant seem to find any glands, i see you taped the joints , but then this aint water proof ??

It is not twin walled but comprises a surface of deep raised rings which offer good insulation and flexibility. There was no advice on temperature range. It is a well made and good quality product. Probably worth asking the supplier for more info.

Q: Can this be easily cut lengthways to cover an existing cable that I've uncovered in my garden?

Wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem. It's quite flexible. I used a sharp knife to cut into mine and was easy to cut. Should be able to open it to cover the cable in my opinion.
