BELLA 13791 Dots Collection 4-Slice Toaster, Purple

I ordered this Bella and I couldn't wait to get it. Unfortunately, the one I did receive, was damaged. The box it came in was busted up and the toaster wasn't working properly. Left slot would lock down when not plugged in and the heating elements were not working correctly. Also, it set off my fire alarm a few times.I just received the replacement and so far, so good. Box was in good shape and both slots aren't locking down when unplugged. Heating elements seem to work alright, but still they all don't light up. It still set off my fire alarm when I plugged it in for the first time, but since then it has been quiet. Hoping that this won't set the alarm off at 6am from now on.Colors look great. Exactly the same red/silver you see in the picture. For a four slice toaster, it takes up a small place. Good for smaller kitchens. Bagel button works good...even for English muffins. One thing I noticed on this toaster, the lever for the darkness (doneness) can be set in the middle and if you toast to the end of that cycle, you will have burnt (dark, dark brown toast). I guess medium doneness is closer to the lighter setting. Still bread does toast pretty even on both side.Glad I was able to return the bad one and get the replacement. It looks good and so far, it works pretty well. Happy customer.UPDATE: 12-22-2014I have had this toaster for 10 months and it has worked great. I have toast that doesn't burn on one side and the bagel control works excellent for bagels. It does heat up strong, so be careful how long you toast your food. It still looks great and I am very happy I received this replacement. Well worth the money.

My cheapie 10 year old toaster finally stopped staying down on one side. I had been waiting for a reason to replace it for a few years and finally, this was it! Our kitchen has a lot of funky, retro pieces in it and the orange matches my 70's Sears mushroom cookie jars perfectly!I've seen other reviews saying that it took too long to toast but my old toaster needed to go twice on the highest setting to get English muffins crispy and today, I put them in the new toaster, half way, and they were dark. The slots aren't super deep that you need to get a pair of tongs to get your stuff out but they're plenty big enough to fit bagels and my homemade bread (which also didn't fit into my old toaster).My only complaint is...the power cord comes out of the front corner of the toaster and I think is pretty short. I actually had to rearrange where everything sat on my counters so that I could have it at an outlet it would reach. I can't wrap my head around why the power cord doesn't come out of one of the back corners. I have a cord running along side my toaster and then up and behind to the outlet. Not ideal looking but it works.

I have the red bell dots coffee maker which I love.now I have 2 favorites in my kitchen. My husband loves toasted onion rolls & hamburger buns. All of our other toasters did have what they claimed were wide slots ,couldn't fit the rolls and buns in without touching the elements and burning, or tearing when removing the buns out of the slot.These slots have x-tra,x-tra wide slots with more than enough space. The red color is very vivid and bright, a real true red. My kitchen has an apple theme red delicious color & green apple.I plan to purchase the green bella dots 4 slice toaster and the coffee maker in green.I love changing the little things in my home with her change of season and holidays."UPDATE" march 11th 2014,toaster is still working terrific. We use it daily, every morning,sometimes even more then once a day.I have not been able to locate the green 4 slice square one,only the 4 slice long, which not my style.I have however purchased a second 4 slice red one because they have been getting a little challenging to find.

:UPDATE: I've had the toaster for over a week now and, while I'm still bitter and perturbed about the power cord, it does toast well. It toasts evenly and flat-out better than what it replaced, even if it does take a little bit longer to do so. In those regards, I like it. Still, the cord is beyond baffling. :END:Not only does the toaster's power cord enter the bottom of the toaster UP FRONT, it's short to begin with.Who, and I mean who in the world, thought it was appropriate to place a power cord on the bottom-front of a toaster? The cord now winds its way through the underside of the toaster to get to my wall outlet (thereby using about 8" of otherwise needed cord).There is a nice bend as it goes from pointing down to sideways, which forces the toaster to rock on its legs. This is literally the worst design in a kitchen appliance that I have ever seen.Secondly, the cord is short. The owner's manual even discusses why it's short. For SAFETY reasons. Entanglement and choking hazards. It advises to use an extension cord IF YOU'RE CAREFUL. Seriously? We're in such a litigious society that toaster makers have to keep their cords unnecessarily short? I have to buy an extension cord to use my toaster?Everyone should buy this toaster and promptly return it to teach Bella a lesson in consumer satisfaction.
