Victorian Architecture Meets Perfection
This is a fantastic book. I am thrilled to constantly enjoy the beautiful pictures of these stunning homes. We visited Old Louisville last month & this book brings HEAVEN into my living room. David Domine does a terrific job covering the history of the area as well as the current residential restorations and hidden jewelsof Victorian walkways to visit. A place of perfection to visit in Kentucky becomes real and wonderful in his book.

Worth it in every way!
If you're a fan of Victorian architecture as well as fine photography, this is a must- have. Not just a collection of beautiful interiors but also is a wonderful introduction to the fascinating history of what remains one of the largest, intact Victorian neighborhoods in the US. I found the historical information and the period illustrations a great enhancement to what is a fascinating story. Built on the land that housed an early precursor to the World's Fairs (known as the Southern Exposition), it was the most extensive use of electric lighting at that time (overseen by Thomas Edison, himself) and later was the site of many of the beautiful homes located in the area now known as "Old Louisville". Get yourself a copy. You won't be disappointed.

A beautiful treat for the eyes
The publisher did not save the best picture for the cover. This book is beautiful throughout. I wouldn't have expected to find these beautiful homes in Louisville, but not only are they here, but both the photography and the text do them justice. We have other books with the Schmidts' photography; they are all excellent. This is just the latest. David Domine's text makes this a real history book, not just a book of pretty pictures.

Old Louisville
Louisville deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Charleston and Savannah if the topic is historic preservation. This book with its sumptuous photos shows why.
