Very compact and perfect for creating cheese boards.

My husband recently discovered the art of smoking cheeses, which left me with numerous blocks of delicious cheese and no way to slice them so, of course, I turned to Amazon to solve the problem. I decided on this particular slicer because it's nearly identical to the one my mom has owned and used for nearly two decades and I've always liked hers. As expected, this cheese slicer does its job just as well as moms. The wire was slightly misaligned when it arrived, but that is easy to fix by simply unscrewing the handle some to loosen it and repositioning it. So far it's sliced through at least 20lbs of cheeses (swiss, mozzarella, cheddar, colby, jack, mixed and marbled cheeses...) without issue and without breaking the wire. It's as simple as sliding the block over a little if you want thicker or thinner slices, and it's easy enough for even my 5-year-old to use when he feels like helping at snack time. UPDATE: We recently moved, and our last wire snapped in transit. After searching I didn't see any wires made by Fox Run available for this slicer, so I decided to try these: Replacement Wires for Compact Marble Cheese Slicer (Green or White)-Set of 4 . They worked out well enough, though they are about a quarter to half an inch shorter than the original wires so getting them on and in place was a bit more of a challenge.

Nice have marble cheese slicer. The material is durable and easy to clean after use. It is easy to use with softer smaller blocks of cheese. We like to buy big blocks of Colby jack from Sam’s and sometimes it can prove to be difficult to cut. Not the slicers fault. The wire is good to get through the cheese; however after a month it broke. The slicer does come with one replacement. I have ordered and additional pack of wires since I have to use the one provided. Overall it works well and is a good value for the cost.

This is a product that echoes “you get what you paid for” cheap, didn’t last 4 cuts of cheese. the handle started rusting soon after the first use.

This is a great item to have on hand if you buy cheese in bulk like we do. It is easy enough to use but does require some practice to get the right thickness on each slice. The set fits easily in my pantry for storage and the blade is nice and sharp and will last quite a while. It is nice that you are provided with an extra blade to change it out in the future.

Update - 5 years later: I'm still using this slicer. I run it through the dish washer after each use, and I've only had to replace the wire blade once. I've had to tighten it up a few times, but this has held up very, very well...and, I purchased some of the big blocks of CostCo cheese, and this works fine to cut them! Forget what you read before this review. Here are the facts: 1. The slot for the wire is nicely tapered, which seems to help a LOT compared to other versions I've used 2. Wire is really tight, which let's it cut quickly and cleanly 3. Marble is super-easy to clean. I'll never use a wood one again. 4. MOST IMPORTANT: The pivot for the handle is in the perfect spot. Allows maximum leverage of the wire against the cheese. You don't have to horse the handle and wire through your cheese One caveat: If you are buying those GIANT blocks of CostCo cheese previous reviewers have discussed, don't complain that this mini-slicer doesn't work for you. Spend more money and get a much larger slicer. You don't buy a Honda Civic and complain that you can't fit a 4' X 8' sheet of plywood in the trunk, do you? This is the best tool for the job, assuming you are cutting normal pieces of cheese (and not pieces to cover an entire slice of bread)...

Pretty item however it's near impossible to get the wire tight wich makes for not so easy slicing. First wire broke first time using.

What can I say about these wires? They fit into the cheese slicer but a little hard to get it really tight without snapping it.

É um cortador manual e por isso não esperem algo fantástico. Cumpre seu objetivo. Realmente te corta bem, mas para isso você precisa alinhar bem pois se não as fatias saem tortas. Mas é muito bom 👍...um fio veio quebrado

I really like the weight of the cheese cutter and the non slip feet. My only issue is that the groove is angled upwards, so the wire doesn't cut through the cheese on the one side. You need to hold the cheese block and the slice that's almost cut through and lift it away from the board while holding the cutting handle down. It would be better if the groove was deeper. When the wire has just been tightened, it does cut better, but still doesn't go right through.

Fast delivery! A small area (see photo) had chipped but I believe it does not affect the performance of the cheese slicer.
