Wonderful resource
Intelligently written, but still easily readable for college level students. Great background material for an undergraduate level course in Shakespeare. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

It helps
Bought it for My Shakespeare class and the only thing I wish is that it had an audiobook from audible. Why would anyone want to listen to it? Because some of us pick things up faster when we read along to audiobooks and some have a hour and a half to two hours of commute time in a car. It would be nice. Other then that it helps with my class.

Yup, it's the textbook I needed
Not perfect condition, but it was used before me so I'm not bothered by it. Beats buying it new and paying a fortune.

Will never read cover to cover
This book was purchased for a college class, but by the end, our class had decided this book wasn't the most helpful for studying Shakespeare. Though it became necessary to write a paper for the class, there was no other use for this. The essays didn't add to our study the way anyone felt they would. Though it's better than other companions I have seen.

Pretty good, if you love shakes you'll love the history

Came quickly, and it's only a little rough around the edges. Note that this textbook is smaller than usual textbooks, so it's easy to travel between classes with!

I bought this as a textbook for a class, but there's such a wonderful amount of information in is book. I think it's a fascinating read and a definite must for all lovers of Shakespeare.

A useful source of contextual information about everything Shakespeare
I really found this companion helpful and illuminating during my undergrad career at Queen's University Belfast. By providing excerpts of contemporary source material to support the information given in the various chapters, the editors have created a tour de force which no student of Shakespeare should be without. Also... It's size is not so huge that it is overwhelming!
