Simple, informative and hard-wearing.
Brought this book for my 9 year old as she is learning Scratch at school. As a programmer myself, I found the book teaches children the very basic foundations of computer programming (from variables to loops) with fun, easy to follow tutorials without all of the boring theory behind it. What really caught my niece's attention was the chapter on games. Once she had read that chapter she was well away creating her own games. The book itself is hardback and is spiral bound. So it can take a tumble or widthstand the manhandling it will be subjected to.Overall this book is a great staring point for kids.

Amazing intro to Scratch for kids
Amazing intro to Scratch for kids. Saved $100 on an after school program teaching the same thing. They can work on their own pace.

Fantastic!
I'm not going to pretend to know a lot about coding because quite simply I don't. However my 8 year old is always telling me about coding and so when we bought her a laptop for Christmas I wanted to get her something that wasn't minecraft. The book itself appears hard wearing and is spiral bound for ease of use.The pages are colourful and informative and easy to follow without being too simple. She opened the book and within minutes she had got herself hooked and was coding games inside an hour.By the time her father was home she was teaching him!Gets my vote and I would recommend to others!

Nice gift for beginners
Bought for my niece, she loved it and made few programs but lost interest soon after. Not sure if from lack of interest or the way it is writtenBut it is a good book for beginners
