Grodan 1.5" Rockwool Mini Blocks – 45 Pack Rockwool Cubes for Hydroponics, Seed Starter & Cloning + 5 THCity Stakes

Used these to start my kale lettuce seeds. They come with a tiny hole in the center to simply drop the seeds in, i used a toothpick to press them down snugly. The pods fit perfectly into the seedling starter tray. They are firm, but have enough flex for a nice snug fit. Planted 2 seeds in each pod, wet them down with my aquarium fish tank water and set under an inexpensive grow light. Pics are the results 1 week later. Rockwool is the best. No dirt, no mess, and almost instant seedlings. Little pricey compared to soil but worth every penny IMO.

Best way to clone plants. Follow directions and place plant cutting into watered block with cloning gel on cut and within 1-3wks you should have some good roots growing. Well made and what I've used for the last 20yrs just about.

Only reason it doesn’t have five stars is because I have not started anything in them yet so I cannot contest to people saying that the medium dries up and the plant dies or vice versa. They have been soaking for 48 hours and they are still very durable and hold their form. Even when squeezed it just wrings out and bounces back. They are perfect fit for 3 inch net pot. I have not tried in the 5 gallon overhang buckets with a larger basket, but I would assume if you put a little bit of clay pebbles underneath to raise the bed you could achieve the same results as a 3 inch cup. It has been sitting in pH water for 48 hours and now they are completely submerged. So far so good and soil tester says exactly what the water did. 5.9pH in two separate humidity domes and the same amount of water. I only use about a quarter inch of water at the base at a time. I do not dunk them in water. I let it absorb. As with any DWC, if the pH stands true like it’s doing, and it doesn’t fall apart too quickly, I can’t see a problem with an amazing grow rate and see starting. It was also very easy to use. It’s also self-explanatory. You can use cotton towel method for germination or put the seed inside with the butt side that looks like the end of a watermelon facing upwards. Make sure to cover the hole with a little bit of rock wall, so no light penetrates through. Good luck and I will Most likely change this to five stars soon. Don’t think about taking a chance because the price seems too good to be true, it is. For quality I would rather get 15 quality cubes then 100 garbage ones.

I have used these for months now with over 20+ seedling plants and they have been great. Every seedling planted in these has survived so far. I soak them overnight before adding the new seedling. They hold water well and keep it for several days. I also use a cloning root gel and humidity dome and tray. These fit nicely into the tray and seem to really facilitate root growth. They are a great value for the money and to make sure your seedling survives.

Clean product, does not appear to be of old stock, delivered quickly, and ready to use as advertised. I have recently begun to see the many benefits of hydroponic gardening, so cannot give a full review, but I will say that if you haven't at least dipped your toe into the possibilities, I fully recommend you try a simple coco/perlite grow, follow the basic advice that is easily available online and you too will be a believer once you experience the results for yourself. Night and day growth over soil, unless outside in the ground, its hard to beat coco/perlite. Now am stepping it up with a homemade dwc setup. Seems like a no brainer but we'll have to see.
