Absolutely amazing stuff!! Works so well
This is incredible stuff!! My horse had a wound which resulted in swelling in his leg. I put it on his leg and the swelling had gone down overnight and was gone in 2 days!! My boy has sensitive skin and this didn't bother him at all. I wish the container was a little bigger but I will absolutely buy again!

A must have for all tack boxes
This stuff is miracle paste! I use it for EVERYTHING! Rain rot, itchy spots, bites, and small superficial cuts. Hair grows back fast, I love that it’s safe for humans and animals, and the smell is great!

This stuff works great!!!
The flys are worse than normal early this year and one of my mini donkeys was getting terribly eaten up on her legs. I tried boots and various sprays, vasoline and other things. This really worked to coat her legs and help them heal. 10 out of 10— I will definitely be buying this product again.

GREAT wound care!
This stuff is wonderful! It glides on to wounds, scratches, abrasions & stays on really well! I use it all the time on my pastured horses as they are constantly finding ways to get scratches!! It heals them right up. I will say, it DOES leave the hair a little lighter on my black horses but it's not terrible!

Far better than the well-known brands or home remedies
My horse has a terribly resistant case of rain rot/scratches/greasy heel/dermatitis on her hind legs. The surgeon's shampoo and medication were as effective as smearing peanut butter on it--in short, did nothing for $35. I've tried five different products since then, and this dermatitis just came back stronger. I can clear off the lesions with medicated shampoo, but they returned in 24 hours. In 20 years owning horses in humid Tidewater Virginia, I've never seen a case this bad before. This Coat Defense clay is the only thing I've found that's actually reducing the patches. That poor mare. She showed me how much relief this cooling clay gave her by sighing deeply and visibly relaxing as I rubbed it into the hot spots. The next day, her legs were noticeably cooler and dryer, and there were fewer lesions. You can easily brush out the dried clay. Instead of jerking her legs away from stinging lotions, when I had washed and dried her legs, she saw the jar, planted her legs firmly, and waited for the clay. She welcomes it. Yes, it's pricey, but you actually don't use much. It's very spreadable. I plan to keep this in the med box from now on. Also, a friendly note: the vets say that these itchy rashes are caused either by a fungal infection or a bacterial infection. You won't know which unless a vet cultures the cells. One of the possibilities is a staph infection. Don't even think about treating these rashes without rubber gloves. Humans can and do catch them, and they're hard to treat, especially if you get them in YOUR hair.

Must have for first aid kit
I'm not sure if I have done a review on this product on not yet, but this paste is excellent! I use it at our horse rescue for all kinds of bite wounds and plaque areas from insect bites on their stomachs. It blocks the flies from bothering a wound, it lasts much longer than other products. The powder is amazing also for itching and protecting wounds from getting infected. I use it on my dog too for similar things. I have even used it on myself for bug bites, it really calms down the itching especially for chigger bites.

Great Product, but Pricey
This is a wonderful product. Works very well for mild abrasions, scrapes, pastern dermatitis, or irritation. Only gripe is it dries extremely quickly and will end up coated all over your hands vs the horse. Applies better if you have lightly damp skin or hair first, especially on areas that have a fair amount of hair cover. I only took one star off because the price is outrageous considering the ingredients and size. I am all for using natural, minimal products, but the markup on this is absurd. Should be half the price. Considering making my own version because of costs.
