Poorly edited and poorly conceived!
I enjoyed the first books in the series, but this one is awful! I tried to get through it but quit reading a 79 percent. There are numerous grammatical errors and at one point one of the characters is misnamed. Plus there are many unbelievable situations presented. For example, a bridge collapses just as their last vehicle crosses over. And shortly thereafter, they reluctantly decide to get their weapons out of storage because bad guys might be in the area. You would think that if you were going to drive across country in a post apocalyptic situation, you would have the weapons out and ready to use! Then they decide to have an eleven year old kid, that they just met, ride in the passenger's seat of the lead vehicle. That is a seat you would expect to be occupied by someone who could defend against a sudden encounter. I could go on, but you get the point! Can't remember the last time I quit a book.

Okay ending for the trilogy
The overall plot was fine to finish out this trilogy, but this novel had more grammatical, spelling, and editing errors than the first two novels combined! As with those first two novels, the errors increase in frequency and intensity all the way to the end of the novel. Although the author said she has "readers" who give her feedback, they apparently are not paying attention. Following are examples. At the end of chapter 19, a character''s name changes from Travis to Todd then back to Travis at the start of chapter 20.From page 231: "If power had been out for a short time, then came back on refreezing the spoiled food,, but they only took from freezers that had something that had something that would alert them if the freezer had been compromised."(sic)Previously, I was embarrassed for the author. But, as someone who has paid for these novels, I started feeling cheated and had to push myself to finish this final book in the trilogy. In fairness to this author, I will say that this seems to be a common problem with some authors selling their books via Amazon's Kindle store. It makes me want to offer my services to read, correct, and edit their books for them before they do the initial publishing. Amazon is welcome to put them in contact with me.

Good story, poor logic
I continued to enjoy the story, but that enjoyment was really curtailed by poor logic. For example,When in a convoy people would have rifles armed and ready to go. There would be spotters in the first and last vehicle. Hanguns are what you use to fight your way back to your rifle, they are never your primary means of defense.I think the decision to leave Wisconsin is a reasonable one, but VEGAS??????? It's a freaken desert. You need to be able to grow food. , and preferably hunt, fish as well. You want to go to a milder climate with better rainfall, but still good sun. Easy examples might be the central valley in CA (say around Sacramento). There would be a ton of solar panels there to get power going, and good soil, plus probably plenty of fruit and nut trees, and cattle etc, or east Texas, good rainfall etc. Or maybe the Willamette valley, there's a ton of places to go, but the desert would be on of the last places. Also, everyone would have a real semi-automatic rifle at this point. Yes you would still have some hunting rifles but you need the right tool for the job. They already know people can be hostile, they would have armed properly.stupid stuff like this really distracts from the story

Going Downhill
If you enjoy recipes for survival cooking and foraging you might like it. Much of the story is about finding, storing, preparing food. The caravan was kinda neat but who goes off without weapons bristling ready? And if you believe a power plant in a dam will run itself and electric distribution of 12,470 volts 3 phase needs no maintenance for a year this fantasy is for you. Author thanked the editing beta crew too early. Grammar, who’s who slips, and syntax errors set in later in the tale.

Ok series
I did like this series of books, however as said in other reviews this 3rd book could have stood for a better editing job. First of all of the original two children the boy whose name was Travis in the first two books, unfortunately started the 3rd book being called Luke. Then another boy shows up and he is called Travis. There was also just a lot of misspelled words and the wrong words used at different times. But all in all it was a pretty good series.

Great Series
I loved this series. It was realistic, suspenseful, and entertaining. The reason I gave this specific book 3 stars is for two reasons - the ending came fast (unnaturally so) and left me wanting, and there were so many typos/grammatical issues/missing words it was distracting. Combined, they communicated this was rushed and sloppy. But I still recommend.

Great find
I love post apocalyptic thrillers and really love finding new authors. MPMcDonald is amazing. Love the characters and her story telling is definitely worth reading. Fell in love with all the characters. Lots of good nuggets of information about preparing for anything and bringing people together in a fallen world. Can’t wait to read more series by this author!

Should have been proof read!!!
The virus is stupid, but I’m on book 3, so I like the characters. . Hate the profanity and wish authors understood people would read good stories without it!!! But honestly, proofread your writing lady!!! So many errors in this book make it really hard to read. “Nest” is “next” and one word completely missing in another sentence. Here is a sentence straight from the book.. . “ That way, if the bridged did go out, at least most of them would survive.”. Seriously!

A little boring (sorry)
Not exciting! This book finishes off the series (for me) in a very calm and honestly, unexciting fashion. This was not like the previous book where I couldn’t put it down. With respect to the typo’s, not as bad as book two, but they were worse towards the end. You notice I’m not discussing the characters? That’s because none jump out and make an impression. Neither do any of the events. I’m glad I read it, I’d been anticipating it for ages. But it’s finished for me.

A Survivor's Tale
This was a really an exciting portrayal of what life might hold for the survivors of a deadly virus which swept the globe. I think many readers will become, like myself, immersed in this unique adventure and read all three stories to discover the outcome.

Incredible
Best series I have ever read, so glad I bought this book. If ever it continues, I will be first there. The characters are like family friends. The imagination to create this series is awesome. The author has a real talent that is unsurpassed. In a new world, I can see it and feel it, the challenges, the hope and determination to not lose their humanity. Loved it.

Heaps of errors but great story anyway.
Decent and engaging story for all three novels, but the level of editing was appalling, mostly in the last book. Words were missing or repeated, 1 section was repeated at the end. It happened so many times it really distracted from the story.

Great series
There was no lessening of impact in this book. In fact the race for survival gained pace as Cole and his family courageously search for a better life. There is love and loss and friendships formed along the way. In all this series has been a most satisfying read. Loved the ending.
