Tramontina Enameled Cast Iron Sauce Pan with Lid, 2.5-quart, Red

I needed a small versatile2-3 quart pot that kept steam in. Primarily it’s used for rice. And the results were perfect But it can go in the oven for anything a big Dutch oven could do. I’ve used it for baking chicken thighs in wine for four- wonderful results. I followed direction to wipe the rim of the lid with oil(seasoning) because it is not enameled like the rest of the pot. But experience has proven to simply room drying the pot and lid separately (mold occurred within when put together after sink washing and towel drying . That’s a good testimony to how snug the lid fits though. The top handle goes without issue into the oven btw. I handle it with respect knowing chips into enamel can happen if bumped around. The res is very vibrant and the weight of the pot lets you know this is very well built. I have accidentally burned corn, like black to a crisp and after letting the pot soak for an evening it wiped clean

I have tried many different sauce kettles and this is the very best by far. It's the first one I can cook rice in without it spilling over. The pan holds the heat so well and gently cooks the rice. Of course it's good for soups and sauces as well. I love it and seldom use my stainless steel pots any longer.

I am 67 years old...and as much as I hate the weight of enameled cast iron, my pieces are my kitchen staples. I know how to use and care for them.One of my nieces just got engaged. I'm going to order her another as a wedding gift.This piece is the right size for when I need the "in-between" size for cooking volume--gravies, sauces, braising a quail, perhaps.

this is so easy to clean even with oatmeal or rice.

Very glad I waited to review this pot. Although it is a great size, especially for cooking rice, and it being cast iron cooks very evenly, I recommend it with the following caution. Never allow it to soak in water for any length of time. The top ridge of the pot (black) is not enameled and will rust. I have no idea how long this pot will last in a condition that will make it useable. Now that I have seen this, I'm being very careful with how this pot is cleaned. And being careful with some other similar pots and dutch ovens.At the time of writing this, this pot is no longer offered here on Amazon. I bought it just a few months ago. So rust did not take long to appear.

Exactly as described ! Very pleased with it, have only used it a few times. Seems to be as good a product as our other pots but not as costly !
