As other reviews have stated, the force needed to open the valve is rather high, you can blow through the valve, but it takes a good amount of force. I’m using this valve as a check for a backup sump pump into the primary sump drain, and this feature would severely limit my pump flow rate through the valve. I “fixed” this by removing the spring that holds the valve closed, and positioned it so that gravity and the weight of water trying to back flow against the valve body would hold it closed. Removing the spring gave it virtually no force needed to open the valve. The check valve must be vertical with flow up if you do this mod, and you must reinstall the metal plate valve stop. All you need is a #1 Phillips screwdriver, and some patience. Beyond this, the valve has no leaks and is of decent quality. It works.

No need to go to the box store when I can have the same thing delivered for about $2.00 less!I did remove and cut the spring in half to make the valve open easier. Not a big deal or necessary but may have been helpful for my application with a small 1/2hp well pump sitting 80' in a 230' casing.

I'm using a transfer pump to back-up my sump pump. I have a check valve and ball valves on both. Our basement has flooded twice due to sump pump failure.

Installed correctly. Allowed 24 hours to set without adding water/pressure. Turned water on and it held. Late night/early morning it split in half resulting in a flooded finished basement. Thousands of dollars in damages.Amazon has been giving me the runaround for days.Again, do not buy this product.

Bought this to prevent a back siphon from the return line to the sump on my aquarium.As one comment suggested, you can blow through it - though it ain’t easy. The cracking pressure, which is not listed, is way too restrictive for my application. It cuts my flow rate to less than half on a 450gph pump.This is made more for house or industrial water pressure, not recommended for aquarium use. Find a check valve that has the cracking pressure listed and go with the lowest you can find.
