I had the writer of this book as my instructor and the layout of this book is meant to help you learn and gives a real world view of how times would have been back during the actual times Jesus walked the earth.

A real gift to any and all who want to learn more about the Bible!
I have studied this book for a church Bible study and for a course in my masters degree. The perfect book for 1) Someone who says "What is this Christian faith all about?", 2) Someone who says "I'm a Christian, but I don't really feel like I know what the Bible is all about", or 3) Someone who says "I know quite a bit about the Bible, but I want to go deeper."In other words, the book is for any and all who want to understand what the Christian faith is all about. Castleman's text selections are excellent, and the questions presented are not simple "What does Peter say here", but "Look at the previous verses. What is it about Peter's character that is being revealed through the asking of this question?" Castleman makes you look deeper into the text, and think for yourself.Castleman does not leave you alone, though, for there is plenty commentary and exposition provided. Castleman expects you to read critically, think wisely, and in return you will walk away more educated, equipped, and confident not only in the big picture of the New Testament, but how it should impact our daily lives.Great for Bible studies, or for personal devotionals! It is an endeavor at times to go through the entire book, but those who commit will be richly rewarded. I would suggest high-schoolers and up. Any younger and it may be a bit too much. Absolutely manageable for anyone 18+, or for those 15-18 who are more studious or academic.
