Fun book! Five minutes to your very own creative crackers! NO rolling out thick dough! Great for "kid chefs".
The best book to come along in a long time! I love to make home made crackers but was tired of trying to roll out thick dough into thin crackers, This method is one of those "why didn't I think of that" things. Well, Alice did think of it and you will be glad she did. The book is relatively small for the price, only about 73 pages. She spells out in detail a lot of things you probably already know about flours, supplies, baking tips, and why you should make your own crackers, but there are still things to learn here. The recipes are pretty simple, and very inspiring. Once you understand the process by making her recipes, you move on to being creative, and that's where the fun begins! I did not go out and purchase all the specialty flours, I only had organic whole wheat and buckwheat flours from my bread baking supplies, so I substituted a little organic white bread flour for the spelt etc. (horrors! I know), but it was only a couple tablespoons. The fun is looking around your kitchen and finding fun things to use in your cracker creations. It really does only take 5 minutes from mixing to baking The pictures in the book are really beautiful, but let's just ignore the goofy hat and costume that is her Alice in Wonderland persona. As she says, you will never buy store crackers again. This method is so easy, any kid can do it and it would make a great gift for all aspiring kid chefs! (Don't forget to get them their own chefs hat!)PS, I almost forgot to mention the sweet crackers! How about chocolate for example, and with NO OIL, they are easy on the calories. Splenda and stevia work great in all the recipes too!

Really Easy Really Great Really Wholesome Chips & Crackers
So I got my copy two days ago and I've already made three kinds of chips. The first was strong enough for my homemade hummus, the second two were too fragile to dip but easily spread. All were really good. Fortunately I already had everything required, including the seeds, whole grains, silpat mat, strong cookie sheet, so I could jump right in. So thank you, Alice. I'm going to have a lot of fun with these, and they really are quick, 5 minutes mixing, more only if I have to zest a lemon or something. I like to make these while I am cleaning the kitchen, so attending the two baking times is simple. The recipes look complicated but really they are all the same process with different ingredients and baking times, so make one, make them all. I may bake chips every time I do dishes! Before Alice, I baked a lovely whole wheat cracker with Prairie Gold White WW Flour, water and salt and cranked them through a pasta maker. They were thin and strong enough to pick up lots of dip, but unlike Alice's chips, making them makes a mess. Oh, speaking of salt, Alice's chips & crackers don't have any, so, a salt freak, I just sprinkle sea or flaky salt on top. Also kudos to Alice for being gutsy enough to independently publish as I have over the years at beaverislandarts.com. I know what it takes! I'm so happy to support her efforts.

Best Amazon purchase ever!
This book was heaven sent! I had been on a quest to make my own crackers and chips for some time. That craving for salty crunchy things isn't always satisfied by carrots and celery. And store-bought crackers are so expensive and not healthy for you. I had flirted with traditional cracker recipes-make the dough, roll the sticky dough out, bake-and it may or may not turn out good.Then-drum roll please-I found Alice's book. I watched her video before purchasing so I knew I also needed the pan and silicone mat and ordered all three items. The day my goodies arrived from Amazon I was ready to make my first batch of crackers. It is truly just as easy and quick as Alice says and the crackers are so delicious. The next day I went to my local baking-kitchen specialty store to pick up a fluted pastry cutter and the spice grinder. I was so excited about expanding the possibilities of cracker making. I told the shop owner I was excited about making crackers. She said I must have a lot of time. I laughed and told her about Alice's book and how easy and delicious the crackers and chips are. She wrote down the information and said she would begin to carry the book in her store.I next went to my food co-op to pick up more variety of whole grains and seeds and spices.I have purchased many things from Amazon over the years and have never left a review-but I just had to let Alice and everyone know how incredible this book is. I will be sharing this with all my friends and family. You get a lot more information than how to easily make crackers-she details out how to make your own custom flour blend crackers, trouble-shooting, nutrition, etc.Thank you Alice for this book and information. I will be having fun creating and sharing my own cracker blends for many many years.

Overpriced
Useful but the writing and layout is not well organized. This is self published and is overpriced in my opinion. After an Internet search I decided to order this book to have one reference. This book focuses on specific ingredients and one method as the basis for all the crackers. The author has created and tested all the recipes. All the recipes have seeds and grains and are "healthy".

So quick and delicious
I made 3 cracker recipes from the book and they were amazing. The recipes are also versatile that you can use any flour, any seeds or any nuts. I made cocoa crackers, caffe latte crackers and sunflower and sesame crackers and they were incredibly delicious. I used ground quinoa for the sweet crackers and ground raw buckwheat for the savoury. Amazing. Very quick and so simple! The only problem is I can quite easily eat a batch on my own.
