This is handy, and I'll use this over and over, but i wouldn't recommend anyone to refer to Black Slavery in the U.S. as "that peculiar institution". Just don't.

I just purchased six different Thesauri. They were all top rated on Amazon, and sounded so good I couldn't resist trying them all. I love this thesaurus! Love this so much that I have purchased this item multiple times (I travel a lot and have moved a few times)! I oftentimes carry this with me on my travels and read this for pleasure. Recommended!

I'm one of those idiots out there, especially when it comes to speaking well, so this book has been a bit of a saving grace for me in that regard. I think it's safe to say that their are a plethora of useful alternative phrases and words in this book for every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Alot of them are keepers for sure, very eloquent indeed.I docked a star because alot of words only have one alternative and some of the alternatives (Not that many) have a somewhat different meaning to the original word/phrase.

I enjoyed reading this book. It is a great book for writers. It introduces one to the varied forms of a word. For writers and authors it makes their expressions: stronger , rich and direct. All in all, this book is the material for writing a best seller.

I bought this on a whim and quickly discovered what an asset it's been to my writing. As a full-time college student, I am writing several papers a week. This book has given me fresh alternatives to clichés and assisted me in producing concise, polished papers.

I really like this book. It's easy to follow and understand. However, I feel this book would be even better if it had sentence examples with the alternate words. I look up the alternate words in a sentence on my iPhone while reading the book. Great book for a great price.

From the cover it indicated phrases which would be really useful. However, looking further into the book, there is a small amount of phrases and more simply synonyms and antonyms. I have a good desktop thesaurus/dictionary for that purpose. I was under the impression this book would give more usage (alternative phrases) and am extremely disappointed.

As a linguist and writer, I am always looking for new ways to express things or for specific clarification and although this is by no means an exhaustive thesaurus of phrases, it does enough and helps other words/phrases come to mind. All in all, this is an interesting book that’s worth reading for anyone interested in the English language.

An interesting book to dip into, and a great book if you're stuck and just looking for a little inspiration for a phrase.
