I really don't know much (nothing) about wiring, but this is just plug and play. The two negative points were that the instructions were not the best and thus I had to guess into which "thing" I had to plug the passenger side (although the wires themselves are clearly marked as to which side went where). This was tested by hooking it up to a trailer to see if the lights worked .. and they did. The other was that it tells you to drill a hole into the frame to attach the ground wire with the screw provided. I had little room or the proper drill bit, so I found an existing hole in the frame and then found a bolt to fit through that hole and attach the wire. It took me longer to find the bolt in all my "spares" then it did to actually plug it in. Oh, something else was one side never sapped in audibly like I would have liked, but it seemed like a solid fit. I don't think it's going to fall out. Finally, they give you a couple of black zip ties to gather up the spare wire and move it out of the way, but I used my own bigger zips and more than two, but not many more.

When I say is simple... it is simple. Took me 15 minutes to do the connections... no cutting wires or nothing, it was just a matter to disconnect and reconnect. Perfect fit for my Dodge 2001 V6.

This 4 pin harness was very easy to install on my 2000 Dakota sport. It clips right in to the existing tail light harness on the truck. Only hard part was disconnecting the old harness connectors to get this puppy plugged in. Once disconnected just follow the simple directions and plug this thing in to the existing harness, The cable is rather long, I just liberally taped it to the back of my Reese hitch bar to keep it clean and snug. Total install time was maybe 10 min and I'd say 4 of that was me being picky. Suggest a cordless drill, some black electrical tape, a flashlight/headlamp, and maybe some medium zip ties no more than 10-12" long, (The included ones were a bit flimsy I used them to attach the 4pin connector to an eyelet on my bumper.) you could also use the ties to secure the wire under the hitch, I'm sure you can figure it out.

I purchased this item based on the previous reviews. Installation was very straight forward and simple. Remember to mount the white grounding wire to a clean surface on the frame of the vehicle. Use a dremel tool, a small grinder, or some sand paper to get to bare metal for the ground. The screw is self tapping. Be careful not to break it off when using a drill motor to install it. I usually get the hole drilled and the threads started with the drill motor. I then remove it, put the wire connector onto the screw and then tighten it down by hand with a wrench so as not to snap it off. I then spray some (black) paint over the screw and connector to prevent it from rusting in the future. The plug in connectors seemed well made and went together nice and tight. There was plenty of wiring to reach the trailer. You might need some larger cable ties than the ones provided to secure the wiring where you want them. It just depends on your application. The supplied grease to prevent corrosion was nice to have especially if you don't use the connector on a regular basis. I highly recommend this kit. Especially at $18.95

I wish the t connectors we clocked different , but other than that works perfectly

I did installed it in 5 min on a 98 ram 1500. No mechanical experience. Installing is similar to connecting to extension cords. It’s that easy!

Truly plug and play on my 2003 Dakota Quad Cab. Took me about 15 minutes total including hooking up the ground wire. I used an existing hole in the frame and a bolt instead of the supplied self tapping screw for the ground.

I have a 20 year old truck that has never had a wiring harness installed. I got underneath pulled the connectors apart, plugged in the new harness and in 15 minutes had a function trailer towing light set up.Great product.
