Ultra Hardware 6 Inch Hinge Double Action Spring Black 2.6mm

These hinges worked really well. I had to take off one star because the screws that come with them are too big. The heads of the screws are above the level of the plate and create problems in aligning the door. I replaced them with some that were flush or a little below the plate and everything worked just fine.

I bought 2 of these to support a very heavy MDF door with glass panels. It does it perfectly but I had to get the tension VERY tight. The instructions could have been made clearer. I did have to router out a section for each hinge. The hinges are very springing sounding but pretty sure that's just how these types of hinges are.

I don't think I would describe this hinge as heavy duty (the description did). I installed the 2 hinges on a picket fence 36" wide gate. I estimate the gate weighs 30-35 lbs. I tightened the springs as much as I could (or dared). While the gate was hanging correctly, just a little downward pressure (& I mean a "little") the gate would sag& the upper hinge would expand out beyond its correct position. I can live with this as long as it doesn't "tire" with use/age. Hopefully it will continue to function correctly.

Huge doors. Instructions were not great. But some deep YouTube study and perseverance - they work abs they work really well. Not sure why they sell them in pairs. Require 3 hinges on our large door. Two at the top is a good rule of thumb with the other one just about 1/3 lower section. Setting the tension is real important too. Like I say - not easy to master but we did.

These hinges work well on my 32 lbs Redwood gate/door. I had originally purchased the 4" double action hinge from the same company, but the 4" hinge was not capable of supporting my gate. I had not used double action hinges like these before and so I did not understand that the spring force is not only used to return the door to the closed position, but the spring also partially supports the weight of the door. So if the door is too heavy for the hinge, it will sag. I could not find any guidance here on the acceptable weight limit for the various size hinges, so I weighed my door as a point of reference. The 4" hinge could not support the weight of a 32 lbs door, but the 6" hinges support that door well. I love the double action...very smooth.

I ordered these hinges based upon the terms "Heavy Duty". I realized that the terms "Heavy Duty" depend upon a person's perspective. After installing these hinges on an outdoor shower door and having the door sag because the hinge is not strong enough to hold it straight I was disappointed to say the least. The hinges appear to be sturdy out of the package, but the spring that you cannot see inside must not be big enough. My door is not excessively heavy and if these hinges were quality they should not have a problem holding the door straight. I contacted the seller and explained my situation. They advised that "most customers" need three hinges to hold their door. Who would think that would be the case when they are selling "Heavy Duty" hinges in a two pack! They also stated that they would not accept a return as I had already installed the hinges. So here I am, writing a negative review prior to ordering another two pack of $40 hinges, talk about irritating. Do yourself a favor and go with a different brand that actually gives weight rating or number of hinges needed information. Now instead of spending a few more bucks for quality hinges, I'm spending $40 twice for double the amount of poor quality hinges to hold my door up.

This 6 inch double action hinge set works great on a small garden gate, much better than the 3 inch hinge set it replaced. Now the gate doesn't sag and returns to center after being opened in either direction. I have only two small quibbles, not worth reducing the rating over: 1) The supplied screws are not very strong, I snapped one screw head off while snugging up a hinge; 2) the supplied lever rod is soft, I had to use a quality allen key to get enough leverage to tighten the hinge springs so the gate doesn't sag.

The product is just as I expected. They installed and function fine. My problem was the product description. I needed 4 hinges and the product description said 1 item per package. Therefore, I ordered 4. I received two shipments with 2 packages enclosed each with 2 hinges per package. As a result I had a double shipment and had to return the second. This could have been avoided with a more detailed description.

The screws supplied were cheap drywall screws. They should be #10 1-1/2" good quality screws. Otherwise the hinges are OK.

100%, the shizzle! Very strong, used for outdoor fence gate... works like a hot dam!
