Fans will be rewarded to this behemoth of a Pumpkins tune. There are plenty of internet complaints about the three or four different versions they are releasing which of course can easily be lead to the labels cashing in baring in mind Machina was released for free on the internet, my point anyway is 'Death From Above' (one of the bonus tracks is here) so if you're not over the moon about celebrating one of the finest rock songs in recent times.This line up to me is good enough to be called Smashing Pumpkins, with as much as I adore James and D'arcy as musicians, their was always a sense of Billy feeling dragged down and losing his vision in some expertly polished producing, I'm not going to mess about Billy is the Pumpkins and Jimmy Chamberlain idiosynchratic yet perfected drum patterns complimented every song ever featured. Rest assured Chamberlain's heart remains in tact were as Iha always seemed quite envious of Billy's brilliance and yes megalomania being a pretty talented guitarist and songwriter himself as he went on to prove but he never has been to date in my eyes met Corgan's standards. D'arcy could tired quick for less egotistical reasons plus she was romantically linked with Iha at the time any road the line up that's currently out dazzling Pumpkins fans around the world may not be as nostalgic are hopefully (if Billy and Jimmy have learned from past experiences with Pumpkins and Zwan)not as fractured behind closed doors.The production is rawer than ever before and may not be as beautiful and awe inspiring in the magnicifent experimentilsm of Mellon Collie, it could well be one of their most accesible songs and perhaps one of Billy's finest guitar performances I've heard to date.

enter jimmys thundering snare role, billys fuzzed up guitar harmonics and sneering voice. it's definitely the smashing pumpkins we used to know and how glorious they sound.with the classic fuzzed up pumpkins guitar sound mixed with the melodic chorus that reminisces that of the short lived zwan, billy and jimmy have greated a song that belongs up there with the likes of zero and bullet with butterfly wings.BRING ON ZEITGEIST!!!

The eagerly awaited new single from one of the worlds most influential bands is no disappointment. The opening chord absorbs you instantly back into the Siamese dream-esque guitar rich sound that we all got lost in the first time round. The song is well structured, has a lot going on (chord progressions, thundering drums, guitar solos), and most importantly, sounds like a smashing pumpkins song. It takes you places that no other pumpkins song has taken the listener before, yet doing so with a familiar pumpkins sound. A truly astounding first single, that you will play a hundred times and not get bored of.The b side, death from above sounds more like a good futureembrace song, but that in no way is a bad thing. It is classic pumpkins b side material.The first single is a really promising indication of the potential awesomenesses of Zeitgeist. A worthwhile purchase for anyone who is trying to discover the pumpkins, and a must buy for all die hard fans.

This is a truly outstanding song, and yes, I am writing as someone old enough to have bought Siamese Dream on release. Musically, this is SO tight and extremely well produced - not mixed as though the only sound system in the world is the iPod. If you have some decent equipment this will pick you up by the scruff of the neck and put you up against your living room wall. As a piece of songwriting it shows maturity and control, of the kind not found in your average Nu Ravesters. Buy it and play it LOUD, you will understand.

First of all, I love Zeitgeist. Tarantual is a great song, but I only bought this for the B side so I wouldn't have to buy the Best Buy version of Zeitgeist. If you are a diehard fan like me and you need to have every song that Billy wrote, buy it. Death from above is a so so song that is definitley a B side.
