Sturdy, Good Looking Mailbox Post
The post assembly went together and the mailbox (same one shown) went on without a hitch in just a few minutes. I rocked the old mailbox post out of the turf and slid this one in, used the sledgehammer to pound it down with a piece of 2"x4" to cushion the blows on the top of the pvc, and pounded the ground a bit on one side or the other to get the post to a plumb position. Easiest assembly and installation I could've asked for, I was done in half an hour. Bought some peel and stick numbers to stick on it, done. One criticism is that Amazon recommended buying a post and spike to mount this product on to, which I bought and which turned out to be totally unnecessary. The mailbox is a freestanding product with thick walls that is plenty strong and needs no 4"x4" lumber post. This is not a mark against this mailbox post, but against Amazon's recommendations: The mailbox post is great, so 5 stars.

Pretty nice!
Easy to assemble, well made, looks good. I did use glue to hold caps on, like one poster mentioned, put a screw through the back of the mailbox into the post. The box itself did seem pretty flimsy, a heavier gauge option I would have gotten. Over all looks great. Installed old school, no cement or post, right in the ground, compacting the back fill, sits solidly in the ground.

At time of installation, very happy. Five Stars
Arrived in perfect condition with all the parts included. Parts appeared new and were in straight, perfect, and in installable condition. Easy to follow assembly instructions and USPS installation location/height requirements were included.Modifications:We have a preferred size and style house numbers so I purchased them from the orange-apron place (less than $5 including tax); they are mounted vertically on the post.Because I tend to "over build" I glued the PVC pieces as they were assembled. I also very tightly stuffed the open areas with white styrofoam. I used a sheet of styrofoam in the plate which is located under the black mailbox and custom-cut chunks for the cross arm and the interior of the post above the cross arm. We get some wind here occasionally so I wanted to stabilize the pieces as much as possible AND all of those little cavities look like they would be very inviting to wasps and other mailcarrier-intimidating critters. (Wasps getting in my face get on my last nerve pretty quickly and I don't have to kill them if they never take up residence in the first place.) Because of the way the plate is designed, you would have to know what you are looking for, and look up under the mailbox to see any of the white styrofoam. No styrofoam was used in the sleeve/wood post cavity, but we did secure the PVC sleeve/post to the wood post with some extra long flathead screws. The decorative bottom piece (it is actually a sleeve for the main vertical PVC post) slid down over the heads with no problem. The wood post in set in concrete. Because our fencing company is such a great company we had them install the mailbox unit while they were here to straighten our year-old PVC fence which was leaning slightly due to a high wind event. In addition, I put a carriage bolt through the white post and into the back of the mailbox with a large washer and the nut inside the mailbox, that assuaged my concern for the cantilevered arm which the mailbox rests on. (If a item weighed a ton but would fit in the mailbox, that is where it will be delivered; thus, the carriage bolt.) I did paint the exposed head of the carriage bolt white to match the PVC and the exposed threads black (between the post and the back of the black mailbox) so the design was uncompromised — a.k.a. "still pretty" — and to prevent the possibility of rust. The inside "catch" for the mailbox door latch did require adjustment; that took all of 30 seconds with a shop cloth and a pair of pliers. The end caps were much too loose for my taste, I would have glued or screwed them even if I had not been gluing the entire unit piece to piece during the assembly. I used a standard clear PVC glue.Miscellaneous:For those who want to know… Yes, this fits as a sleeve down over a standard pressure treated 4 x 4 post(USA actual measurement is approx 3.5 x 3.5 inches). This PVC matches our it's-just-plastic-it-shouldn't-cost-that-much white PVC fence. (Our professionally installed fence leaned a bit but stood strong with no damage through the major wind event we had a few months ago, so plastic fences look like a good investment at the moment. For reference, in our area that rain/wind event took off a few roofs, tore up mobile home/RV parks and pushed over mature trees.)Remember, you get what you pay for, this isn't a $300+ unit nor does it feel like one. If you live in an area where mailboxes occasionally take a hit, want a relatively easy DIY install, or just want a nice looking standard size mailbox at a reasonable price we found this to be perfect for our needs. Highly recommend seller, 4Ever Products, and this product. Purchased December 1, 2017, it arrived on the 6th, we paid $160 less a penny ($133.40+$26.59 shipping).Note to mailbox designers, please figure out a way to keep the planet destroying junk mail out of our mailboxes. Many of us would pay extra for that! (…and no, we are not ever going to let Amazon or any other delivery service in our home. The dogs might mistake them for a cookie, we won't even think about what the cats might do with them after the dogs were finished ;-)

Homestead Vinyl/PVC Mailbox Post - White (includes Mailbox)
The Homestead Vinyl / PVC Mailbox Post - White (Includes Mailbox) The assembled mailbox system has an attractive design, is pretty stable/rigid and easy to install. The plastic mailbox shelf holes were not aligned and I had to re-drill with smaller pilot holes to allow the four sheet metal screws to hold securely. Other than the hole size being too large, and misaligned the mailbox system meets my expectation. The caps are not really secure w/press and friction fit, so I glued them in place to assure they didn't fall off.

Homestead Vinyl/PVC Mailbox Post - White (includes Mailbox
The Homestead Vinyl PVC Mailbox Post with Mailbox far exceeded my expectations. After pricing posts and mailboxes at Lowes and The Homedepot, which were far less superior and much more expensive, I checked Amazon.com and found the Homestead which included the post and mailbox together at one low price, which the others did not. The Homestead was also far less expensive than the others I had priced. My product arrived sooner than expected also. I would definitely buy this product again as it is a quality product which looks good at an amazing price. I feel I definitely scored on this product!

This mail box ROCKS!!
Ok we did so much digging before we found this mailbox complete package on Amazon. This is so pretty and classy!! Very Sturdy! So easy to place together!! We ordered a nice plaque for our numbers..I have to say you will not find another complete system for the price. My only complaint is the packaging......please 4Ever products please make sure you package your products better, this could result in loss of business. We feel if we are paying good money for something it should be packaged better.

The Homestead Vinyl / PVC Mailbox Post (Includes Mailbox)
After checking local sources, I decided to order this one from Amazon. Post and mailbox arrived in a well packaged box with clear and concise installation instructions. Before delivery I had contemplated using a 4x4 post cemented in the ground to provide stability but after receiving the unit I decided that the 4x4 was not needed as the mailbox post is sufficiently rigid. I found it easier to add the decorative base from the bottom and slide it up the post out of the way while installing the post in the ground rather than mounting it from the top after the post was installed. The cross piece is held securely with a “key” that requires no screws. Unlike previous comments about the pre-drilled holes not aligning, I found every hole to align with no problems…maybe QC has improved. You will want to secure the endcaps as previous reviewers have suggested...I used two-sided tape. Overall I am impressed with the quality and ease of installation.
