I was so surprised that leaving these rocks in my dog’s water bowl made a difference, but it did. Yellow polka dots on my lawn are a thing of the past. The rocks do lose effectiveness over time, but if you can slice them with a rock saw or hammer them into smaller pieces, you can get a lot more usage out of them.

Read through these reviews carefully before you risk buying these! We started using these rocks exactly as directed on the bag and within a day our dog had horrible diarrhea, throwing up, loss of appetite, lethargy, and confusion. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize it was the rocks within that first day, we thought he had gotten Norovirus as he’s had it before with some similar symptoms. So we waited it out. FOUR DAYS LATER we were stumped and ready to take him to the vet. His symptoms were as follows:He was waking up several times in the night rushing for the door and barely making it out with horrible diarrhea and he threw up several times in the night (he has slept through the night since 3 months old, never waking to use the bathroom). He was running outside every 2-3 hours with runny, mucus diarrhea during the day . My dog LOVES his food, never misses a meal, super food motivated and he was barely touching it. He’s also been bell potty trained since the very beginning with NO accidents in the house ever and he was acting so strange “forgetting” to ring his bell and just standing absently at the door. He wouldn’t even bark at the door, he’d just stand there and then walk around confused. He pooped inside twice and peed three times, all within the same area right near the door (we think since he didn’t ring it we didn’t realize he needed to go out and so he just went inside). This was truly the strangest thing because he has seriously been a dream dog potty training wise, very smart, and never had an accident or intentionally gone inside even as a very young puppy.It was an AHA moment that his symptoms coincided with the rocks and after finding a few other reviews hidden way down mentioning similar symptoms I immediately pulled the rocks from his water and cleaned/disinfected his bowl. Removed rocks at 1PM and by 7PM dinner he was eating like normal. He woke up at 4:30AM with a semi-runny poop (longest stretch in 5 nights). The next day he still stood at the door by his bell so I started working with him on the command we trained him with as a new puppy and by mid-day he was back to ringing it. We haven’t had another indoor accident since (its only been 4 days). Lastly, his poops finally returned to solid form by the end of the evening on that following day from removing the rocks.PLEASE PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION, and my advice is to avoid completely! I know there are a ton of “success” reviews but this was the most insane experience we’ve had with our dog. I am so upset with myself for having not read through the reviews more carefully, especially after finding reviews that mimicked our exact experience! I am so glad our guy seems to be doing better and I hope we don’t have any lasting negative affects. BUYER BEWARE.

I never had problems with dogs burning out the yard. I've lived in a lot of places, and had a few different dogs in each. For some reason at my new house my dogs were just killing the yard. Admittedly, our new lab puppy goes a lot, and its all concentrated in one place since he's a 80+ lb squatter still.I went with the nuclear option to try to save my yard. I realized in the past my dogs had always had filtered water. The places we lived had water that wasn't great, so I always used either the fridge dispenser or a Pur filter on the faucet for everything, including the dogs. Our water at this house should be fine and we don't have the Pur faucet filter anymore so I was just using tap water. I could get water from the fridge filtered, but I decided to get the PUR 18 Cup Dispenser (https://amzn.com/B00IK5A4U8 ), because it holds a lot of water.Now the water goes in, through the Pur filter and then into the tank where the dog rocks sit. I was afraid my puppy would try to eat the rocks, or at least take them out of the dish so this kills 2 birds. I had seen other reviews that said to use a pitcher to let the rocks sit in the water, and then use that pitch to fill the bowl. That's essentially what we're doing now. (To be clear the rocks are in the tank after the filter, so the rocks steep in the filtered water before going to the dogs.)I also got NaturVet GrassSaver Gypsum Soil Conditioner, 1.5-lb bottle, and NaturVet GrassSaver Dog Tablets, 500 count. I used all of this to try to stop the yard burn. After 2 months I've got grass growing in almost all of the old burned spots and I don't see anymore happening.Before anyone complains, I know this doesn't mean the dog rocks work because I changed so many things. I've started backing off the products though. So far I stopped giving the tablets to one dog over a month ago and my lab a few days ago. I used up the soil conditioner about a month ago also. If no burn spots show up I'll stop using the dog rocks and just keep giving them filtered water from the pitcher. If no burn spots show up after I've backed off of the rocks I'll come back and tell everyone these don't work. (To be clear the rocks are in the tank, after the filter so the rocks steep in the filtered water before going to the dogs.)There is a possibility there is just some mineral or chemical in the water that I needed to filter out, or maybe the rocks are doing something. Because I don't have any burn spots I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now at least and keep experimenting.

These are effective in helping to keep the amount of brown spots down, if you water a lot. For our large dog, they mostly do the trick but he still kills the grass where he has a large pee spot sometimes. They are pretty pricey for what they are, but helpful and better than nothing.

We were landscaping our backyard and made the last minute decision to install sod over artificial turf. Our landscaper told us about this product, so we purchased and tried for a month (using our front lawn as a guinea pig) and we were pleasantly surprised that it did work! We have 2 60lb English Bulldogs (a girl and a boy) and used two rocks in their main water bowl for about 5 weeks. They are picky/sensitive dogs and have had no physical reactions after use or seemed to notice the rocks. The new sod is in and there are no dry spots or patches - we're thrilled and will be ordering again.Update: while rocks were to be effective for weeks, we found that they needed changing more than package stated.
