Quick, easy Check in & out. Scrap time cards. Accurate to the second
Finger print recognition works satisfactorily. We have one member of staff who has very hard to read finger prints and she, in stead, punches in with user number and password. Download of data to USB card provides a tab delimited text file which imports easily into a spreadsheet - which is important to me as I use a Mac and prefer not to use the supplied Timecard software for a PC.The user manual is written in limited Oriental origin type English which is hard to read and hard to understand. Fortunately, the menu logic of the machine is fairly intuitive and easy to understand. The logical functioning of the machine works as expected. A bit more menu warning and instruction could be helpful. e.g. there is no warning that the memory of the machine is erased after a data download is complete. Also, the filename created seems to be the same as that created the previous time which means that unless you have renamed the file or moved it to some other folder/directory, it could be overwritten by the next data dump.Next suggested improvements for the product would be for: 1 the time to be set automatically to broadcast atomic time clock standard time. 2 Access to the time clock data from anywhere on the internet by Mac or PC.Finally, my staff find it much easier and quicker to clock in and out than they did with time cards. No problems with aligning cards and over-stamped times. So far we have had no missed IN/OUT punched times with the finger printing, compared to the 2 to 3 regularly missed when we used the punch cards.I have one employee who works in two capacities at different pay rates for each job performed. She uses a finger on the right hand for one function and a finger on the left hand for the other function. Works fine.

Lonestar LS838 - Great Item...
I must say, this is a great item if you are either upgrading to a new time clock or just wanted one for your business. It was not to difficult to set up once you get started and follow the instructions. Not a plug and play item. So far, its running smoothly, notice an improvement on time attendance the very next day after this item was installed. So, from an employers stand point, this is great... not so much so for the employee.

Updated Review
We are still learning to use the software that came with this. Setting the software up is a pain but using the timeclock itself was EXTREMELY easy. We have employees that are not very technically literate and some we suspected of cheating the clock. This timeclock makes everything easier on everyone.Update: We have had this a little more than a month and I have to say, once we got the bugs worked out we are EXTREMELY happy with it. One thing I will mention is to buy an ethernet cable and run it that way. You can download the info to a USB drive but it reduces a lot of the functionality.Update: We have found that people with very dark skin have a hard time using the fingerprint scanner. We have two employees that have to use the password feature to clock in/out as the scanner will not accept their fingerprints.Update a year later: We have to say we are overall happy with the timeclock but the software and tech support are horrible. Let me explain what happened. As we said before the set up process is HORRIBLE. When we got new computers we had to call tech support again. As it was outside 90 days they charged is $75 to even talk to us. We paid the money and then spent 3 days on with them trying to get it to work. It turns out on computers with more than one user, the software only works on the admin account. That means you have to let your staff log in and have control of the entire computer while doing payroll. $75 wasted. We know someone who just got an uAttend system and they are much happier with it. We are considering cutting our losses with this system and switching. The uAttend system is a little more expensive but comes with lifetime service and support plus it offers integration with payroll services, email notifications, online tracking and a lot of features this one will never have.

worst product!
I bought this time clock in July, after only 6 month it died. We are only 10 employees! Very little use. I'll never buy this again. The software is horrible and hard to get the data. Save yourself money, time and energy. Buy any other one!
