In Trestle Table, Tommy provides detailed project instructions for a table perfect in any kitchen, highlighting the mortise and tenon joinery technique. He also visits Artisan Lumber in Lunenberg, MA, to speak with Brian Brown about unique hardwoods, and is paid an in-studio visit by fellow Bennet Street School graduate Eli Cleveland.

A little too fast paced for me! Wish it had more content.
I really like this table and video, but like all Tommy MacDonald videos, I wish he would slow down the delivery and instruction a little. I saw this episode on TV and bought this DVD hoping it would have more content than the TV airing and it did not. I find it's tough for beginners or hobbyists to stay with him at times and he talks over the layman's head often. Most people, like myself, have never done some of these skills and could use more detail on the simple skills that he seems to assume that we all have mastered. The plans that are provided are helpful, but are much like the video and leave room to be desired.

Great DVD
The plans alone are worth it. Tommy is very much a woodworker who both knows what he's doing AND how to teach it. Some find him to be a little bit effusive, and his laugh can be a bit too front and center- personally I like a teacher who giggles occasionally because he loves what he's doing. The tips are usually extremely helpful in building the projects AND in applications far beyond the DVD and project!
