It is "driven" with an elastic band which "triggers" the Pop Up to instantly open when removed from it's envelope. The card can be easily closed by pinching the finger guides marked on either side and once closed you are able to write your message and place in it's envelope for posting. Loved this pop up card .was super cheap too .only criticism is the envelope ...the outline for a stamp I didn't like ..I wasn't posting it ...should be kept plain .
