Love My Hard Drive
I purchased this hard drive so I can get my information to and from work. I am walking about storing all sorts of documents, pictures and worksheets. I will say I am super impressed with this hard drive. Not only does it look and feel great, but it works great. It is really fast to upload my documents and very easy to sort and organize all of the files. Opening the documents on both PC and Mac has been really simple. I am loving this hardrive. I have had a really easy time transporting my work. I love how I can be effeciant with such a simple device. I can start working one computer and finish up on the next. The best part, this can hold 1 TB of information and is drop proof. Great for teachers.

Certified Reliability by an Indie Filmmaker
Recently bought a pair for like the 10th time. I started using Transcend StoreJet series when I lived in Cambodia about 10 years ago. Not trusting the merchandize quality that was available in the Cambodian market at that time (no regulation/no quality check -> dumping ground for sub-par products), I made a point of purchasing a good chunk of famous brands in the US when I traveled back. I was starting on a rather large documentary film project. I bought the usual suspects. WD, Seagate, Toshiba, etc. They all would had slow start, stuttering and some failure. Out of utter frustration and reluctantly through a recommendation of a local filmmaker friend, I picked up my first pair of Transcend. I never looked back since. They always came to life fast. Never failed to read. I have purchased 16 or so of them (all in pairs due to my back up needs). None has yet to fail or yet to fail to start, or even stutter. The track record I experience is impeccable and ridiculous, compared to other established brands. I am a filmmaker and do massive photography for exhibits sometimes. Transcend StoreJet is the only brand I fully trust. I recently picked up a pair of Seagate 2T USB drives. They feel finicky. Not failed yet but let's see if they can begin to re-establish my trust on other brands. Because Transcend came in and delivered quality when I felt most vulnerable, I remain grateful to this brand.

Transcend CRAP
Hi, I bought this item new in plastic. It was shipped to me very fast. Since I opened the package and I saw it I said I love it. Right now I did move everything from my laptop and my 3 memory sticks on this external HDD and it's stil by like 10% or less of the total capasity. I'm very happy with it I love it. Good stuff specially when you have kids home walking around. It fell on the ground but still working like noting happened! I would recommend this. Seriously. The review was written couple of days after when I got in my email that if I would like to write a review of this product. Now after a year or more, I could say this is crap. I just wrote a review for a next one I bought after this one, after it dodnt want to work. BTW I did check to see if I could get it fixed, had to go through a HELL on Transcend website. They asked me for this serial that this thing that My god! Never again. The next one was the black/dark grey one with green edges. I have lost all my digital materials. Didn't get no refund for none of them, no warranty however it says it comes with warranty. Do not never ever let it fall not even on your bed. The green on felt on the floor from about15-20 inches while hanging on the cord when I took my laptop accidentally. SO this item is: MISSION INCOMPLETED. if u want a hard drive shock prove, look for other brands. This is my recommendation who bought twice the same crab didn't get no refund, no replacement, no warranty, only bunch of crap and instructions from Transcend website to go left and right and left and didn't get nowhere until today.

Very happy with it
Like the size of device and the size of storage. No issues to open with Linux!

Love love this!
So much smaller than my previous external hard drive. The size and fact that it lies flat, makes it more secure and will last longer. My last external hard drive was vertical and once I accidentally knocked it over, that was it!

Fast, Rugged, Capacious External drive
Good little drive. I bought it for ruggedness and durability, but the performance is also quite satisfactory. I get well over 70M Bytes/sec transfer rates on large (>1G) files, and about 25M Bytes/sec transfer rates on small (<1M) files. I also tested this with USB2, and it works fine, roughly the same speed as my other external USB2 drives. There is no separate power cable or power supply. The included short, custom, cable seems awkward. It has a double USB connection on the computer end, in order to guarantee sufficient power for the drive, but I find it works fine using just the USB3 connection to attach it to my desktop system. YMMV. The included file backup software is a little quirky and limited, and will fail if you are trying to backup any open files. Once I got it working, it seems to be good enough to get by. You'll probably want to get better backup software. Fortunately, many excellent, free, alternatives exist, like FreeFileSync, or the free version of Macrium. As of 7/2011, The price/gigabyte is the same as their similar, green-colored 750G drive, so you can choose according to your capacity (and color) needs. I'm using the SIIG USB3 kit Superspeed USB3.0 Bay Hub Kit with A Frontaccessible 4PORT Bay Hub A 2-PORT Pci to talk to it, since my older system lacks native USB3 support. Pros: *Rugged *Fast *Purple :) Cons: *Awkward Cable *Software

Not user friendly
I purchased the Transcend 2 tb storage as extra space for photos, videos, and documents. Let me say first, I am not a computer geek. I did not grow up in the computer age so I am a work in progress learning as I go. Having said that, I am comfortable with simple plug and play SD cards. I have an older 1 tb Seagate, it's about the size of a small book. It has to be plug in and you hear it spinning while in use. It has been great though and never have any issues with it, just ran out of storage space on it. I purchased the Transcend because the reviews seemed good. I plugged it into my laptop and within about 5 minutes of transferring media files my laptop locked up. It had never done before. I could not get my laptop to reset. I'm only use genuine Microsoft and android products. If you were to give me anything Apple I would throw it in a meat grinder. I had not transferred many files onto the Transcend. I unplugged everything, finally got my laptop out of its death spin. The only thing I knew to perform from there was format the Transcend. Well apparently that sent that device into a death spin. I couldn't get it to do anything. My laptop would even recognize it as being connected. I sent it back and purchased a SSK solid state 2tb storage unit. The SSK is much smaller and was only about $10 more expensive. So far it has been great. I've transferred many files onto it without issue. Instructions advised to eject it just like you would any other SD card or micro SD card to protect material download onto it. The Transcend may work well for folks with iPad/Apple crap but I wouldn't suggest it if you like using good old Android, Windows, and PC computer items. Remember this is my opinion which I'm entitled to have just like iPad/apple user are entitled to have their own opinion.
