This works GREAT, you need to cover the hole....
This was just what I needed. I have been soldering since the 1980s, but I normally do through hole soldering. I can do surface mount, and I've always used tweezers.. it's ok.. but I have a board with a chip I need to replace that's down between a bunch of tall components, so tweezers are going to be impossible to get in there, but I only have the one chip to replace, and I just don't do enough of this to justify an expensive vacuum pickup system. This is EXACTLY what I wanted, an inexpensive vacuum pickup tool that WORKS. The pump I received was brand new, so maybe whatever quality issues previous customers experienced have been resolved. The tool itself has a hole drilled in the side, if you don't cover up the hole, then all the vacuum leaks out and you can't pick up anything with it... this is handy when you need to put a part down. To pick up a part, just cover the hole with your finger and pick it up. It's really very easy to get the hang of it. I really think this is a GREAT product, it's inexpensive and it works really well, for people like me who want to tinker with something occasionally, it's a wonderful solution... it's low cost, and very effective. If I were doing this professionally, I would go with a high-end option, and if you are a professional, you will not be reading this, because you would never click on this listing. I'm very happy with this overall, it worked right away without any problems.

Clever, functional
Hahaha! I don't think I've ever seen anybody take a separate product, repurpose it, add some parts, and resell it - at least not in the original box! I like your enterprising spirit! (To 3rd parties: it's an aquarium pump with added tubing and chip-picker-upper pen etc.) And it works, unlike my impression of the other leaky springloaded products I saw on amazon. Room for improvement: it takes a second to pick up a chip, I think because of the amount of air in the system. If you could either get a tube with a smaller inner diameter and add an adapter for the large end, or fill the inside of the tube (e.g. cotton, or a smaller tube), and similarly removed dead space from the inside of the pen, I think the problem would improve. The user can just turn up the pumping speed instead - but that leads to the second problem, that the pump is kinda noisy. Not sure if there's anything you can do about that one, though. Third thing: the tube tends to kink in transit and sometimes in use. Hasn't been a huge problem yet, but fixing the first problem might also solve this one. Still though, good work overall!

Good vacuum - works as expected
Good amount of vacuum. Both vacuum ports work one at a time or together. Happy with the product so far.

Poor packaging damaged included tubing
I purchased this item to assist with repair of broken Christmas ornaments using CA glue. It turned out to be useless. The vacuum was insufficient to pickup and hold small glass or ceramic fragments to mate them with the parts where the CA glue was applied. The problem I had is the poor packaging where the non-pump parts are shoved into the box for the "Cosmo aquarium pump 12000." The pickup nozzles and rubber nibs are packaged in a small press-lock bag and are not a problem. What is the problem is the included tubing to connect between the "vacuum" pump and the hand tool. The two included 32" (tygon? / polly?) tubing both have multiple defects where the tubing was bent sharply in the process of packing them into the box and so will collapse easily when you try to use the vacuum pickup. There are no written instructions with the device. The picture on Amazon shows a pump with two hand tools connected to the two available ports on the pump and undamaged tubing. Since I bought this over 30 days prior to its first usage attempt, I expected the two ports to be "air out" and "air in," and connected a single wand to the port that seemed to provide a vacuum function. I gave no thought to trying the other port. And if both ports are vacuum, perhaps vacuum performance would be enhanced if the unused port was plugged by a cap (none is included with the device). Before I attempt to use the device again, I will replace the tubing and fashion a plug for the unused port.
