This is the second solar fountain I bought because of the battery backup. I purchased this for my bird bath to keep the water circulating and prevent scum from growing. I am not disappointed. I've had this running for about two weeks now and it hasn't given me any issues. Rain, sun, or cloudy... this bad boy keeps pumping. The suction power is most definitely there because I have to clean it every day, which is the only downfall. It sucks up all the debris in my bird bath and gets stuck in the filter. Its important to clean it every day to prevent killing the motor. If you do that, this will last you a while.

This unit works as noted BUT....as in other people's write up the ONLY thing needed to make this a GREAT product would be the ability to have it STAY in one place where YOU want it to stay and not float around spraying the water outside the con finds of the bird bath.Yes, it does have 3 suction cups on the bottom of the unit BUT they are Soooo small and insignificant it is redictolous. They are about the size of an aspirin to hold down a BIG unit floating around.

I read the reviews for this solar pond pump and there were some that were pretty negative. I purchased it anyway, as there were some good reviews. I thought I would wait a month before posting to see how this one did and it is still going strong. I have two, the other one is 4 years old and smaller - it is in the foreground - it's a different brand. I took a picture on a sunny day so you could see the difference and when it was overcast and this one is still going strong, it had been sunny earlier in the day. I have no complaints. For those who said it worked for a short time, I wonder if it needs to be cleaned. It is a pump so it pulls all kinds of stuff into the small openings. I clean mine when I see a change in performance, you can see my water is pretty clear but there is still some algae and plant materials that get into it. You do need to be careful to not expose it to sunlight if it is not in the water, when I clean it I turn it upside down before removing it. I would purchase this again. However, I WOULD NOT put it in a bird bath, I have tried that and it'll empty it pretty quick if there is any splash outside the bath. I also tried it in a half barrel that I had water in and again, I lost more water than it was worth, works GREAT in my landscape pond.

the spray nozzles offer a nice aray off pattern choices. Howeve the higher and harder the spray, the more water is lost outside your pond or water container. Lefy alone, it can empty a 2gal pot of water in a couple of hours. Now we only use the spray tips when company is present. we use a pain tip just as a bubbler to prevent water loss. both offer a pleasant water feature in our garden or patio. this is my second one. i gave the first 5 stars this one quit soon after strting and has onlyworked sporatically since.

This pump doesnt work consistently. I had it in full sun for over 9 hours a day for over a week and it worked every once in a while. I checked it regularly like company said to do, to make sure birdbath had plenty of water, cleaned the pump which never had any debris in it. It just didn’t work properly. I’ve had other pumps and never had an issue like this. Had to return it. I do not recommend this item.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  This thing is really great. I’ve been using it for about six weeks and it works reliably. The sprayer heads shoot the water out of the birdbath so I only use it with the straight tube attachment but it gets the birds’ attention and keeps the water moving and it’s just so nice to watch the birds enjoying it. I give it a quick rinse every day to make sure the intake isn’t clogged.

Battery backup doesn’t work at all. Works if the sun is out only. I don’t know why I chose battery backup because I assume the battery would take over once the sun went under and it clearly doesn’t. I want something better. This ok for sunny days but when it floats around the water goes over the side with any nozzle. I have an average birdbath so.....
