Nice Product and Fairly Easy to Install, update
Outstanding product for the money. I had to buy SS pipe to vent to the outside of house which actually ended up costing more than the unit. The install was very easy and the water/gas lines very easy to install. The nice feature of this unit is that NO power is needed- it uses batteries. Once hooked up, the temp and volume are easily adjusted and it enables hot water very very quickly. It gets to temp in about 5-6 seconds. I was actually surprised that the vent pipe did not get hotter- the unit seems to be more efficient than expected.Update- unit started acting funny and flame would not stay on. When took the batteries out and replaced the unit worked initially but then did same thing with flame going out. Also led screen stayed lit without heating/flame on and even when water not running. So bought another unit and replaced. New unit working fine bit a little dissapointed that it died after 2 yrs. Will contact warranty depth and see if they will send me parts to fix. If so, will provide another update. Btw, this is for an 2 bedroom apt 1 bath, washer unit, kitchen and is plenty gpm.

I kind of love it.
So I love this thing. Hot water right away, super hot and never ending. It works perfectly everywhere in the house, except for in the shower. I don't know if it going through the shower hose does something to the heat, but it works great for about 3 minutes and then it gets really hot and then gets cold and then you have to turn it off and on a couple times before it is hot again and then the same thing happens. I take much shorter showers these days. Otherwise, I consider this a great purchase and it works great for our 3 person household. We do not have a dishwasher and we only have one person at a time bathing so it works for us. I can only guess that when the shower head is turned on then the heater thinks the water was turned off and it shuts off too. We also only have one of those shower heads that screws onto the faucet, so that might be the problem, not enough water pressure comes out to set off the heater. And the price is so low compared to other units. If you don't have a lot of demand for hot water in your house all at once, this is the heater for you. It was very easy for my husband to set up too. and it looks nice and it is small and only uses D batteries, no electricity at all.

Do not let the price fool you, this unit really works
I replaced my electric tankless with this propane unit and was pleasantly surprised by the delivery of non-stop hot water. This unit supplies a three bath home and meets all our needs. No it will probably not supply two showers at the same time, Marey does sell a higher capacity unit. Keep in mind I live in a warmer climate, so my ground water temperature remains 65+F all year long, your mileage will vary. Time will tell if this unit is reliable. Previous reviews mention that customer support is lacking, so as long as the unit works out of the box, this should not be an issue. Reliability is noted as being very good. I would rate this unit as well constructed as any of the name brands at 1/4 the price. Yes, this unit is made in China - what isn't any more. Another plus, in my opinion, is it only requires 2 D cell batteries to operate (change about once per year) - no electric dependency. I expect this unit will save about $50 or more per month on electric, so even factoring the cost of propane (currently $2.49 / gallon at Discount Tractor Supply; cheapest I can find), I will recoup the cost and materials for install in about 5 - 6 months. After that it is money in my pocket instead of the utility.

Not fond of cold showers
We bought two of these for our off the grid cabin. One for the kitchen sink and one for the bathroom. We had a lot of trouble trying to get hot water to the shower. It was fine at the bathroom sink, fine if the shower head wasn't on. It simply would not work with a newer shower head. We found that the portable shower head, what is used to wash the dog attached to the outside hose, worked perfectly. The shower heater does not regulate the heat like I would expect. The water will increase in heat until the unit shuts itself off. You are then left standing in the shower as the cold water goes by, waiting until the heater decides to reignite. It is easy to install, it hooks up quickly, is gas efficient and we like the digital temperature reading.

UNSAFE, FIRE HAZZARD, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, Very disappointing, terrible investment.
I bought this for my mom to replace our old water heater. I read all the good reviews and convinced her this was a better path and a traditional tank. Well, not so. We had this installed by Home Depot. Within weeks it started making very loud explosion sounds. The gas builds up in the chamber without lighting and then lights with what sounds like a full explosion. It's frightened the daylights out of my poor mother. We'd had home Depot look at it 3 times now and a tech from the local gas company too. We've probably paid 2 times the value of the heater in service bills and the problem persist. We've called support at Marey and it's not great. One time the recommended a new regulator. Another time recommended a service call from a gas company. This last time, the suggested we adjust the gas intake screw. All of this seems to me just poor excuses to avoid doing what they should have done early on, which is replace the damn unit. Meanwhile, I elder mother is afraid to use it anymore. Very disappointed in the product and the service.Update: After a fourth tech came out to review, he noticed the igniters were not working right. They would delay igniting while gas was flowing into the the chamber. When they did lite, it caused a small explosion. With that the service tech who works for the propane company "red tagged" my mothers propane tank and said she can't use the water heater or have her gas refilled until this unit is replaced. Called Marey. Like clock work - they said it isn't possible and said we should review again. I demanded the replace it and they said ok, but I have to pay for the shipping of the new box and the return of the old heater. So this is the math for this purchase. Initial purchase $230. Install and 3 additional service tech visits. 4x$180. Shipping for the replacement unit and sending back the old one $40. Total cost of this terrible product. $990. Not to mention all the time wasted.
