Works fine, but battery replacement is a nightmare!
Works fine. Uses security screws and has "No user serviceable parts inside!" slapped on the back. Guess you're just meant to throw it away after the batteries inside go bad in 3-5 years?I did promptly open it up and it seems possible to replace the batteries, but if you're looking for APC-level ease of swapping battery packs, look elsewhere. Inside this I found eight 12V batteries held down in sets of two by metal brackets and wired into two parallel groups of four (producing the rated 48V 9Ah output). It's clearly possible to replace the batteries, it actually lists compatible batteries on a sticker attached to the unit. But doing so will require disassembling the entire unit very, very carefully outside the rack to get the top off and avoid spot-welding anything with the 16 separate exposed contacts you'll have to keep track of.This is for use with small, light-duty units (we have it paired with a GTX4-500RT120). We've got APC UPSs and cabinets six times the size that still manage to have field-replaceable battery packs. It's just shocking to me that Emerson/Vertiv/Liebert couldn't be bothered, especially since the units this battery cabinet is compatible with all do have user-replaceable batteries. On the plus side: 450 minutes of runtime for our key low-wattage 120V devices at a facility that has more problems with power than a rebellious teenager.Still, we'll be sticking with APC in the future.
