An excellent addition to a bathroom
My purchase of this mirror was a direct result of 1) watching my wife struggle with her old vanity mirror and 2) a visit to a hotel during which my wife said “I want one of these wall mount mirrors”. Being attuned to my mate’s every action I immediately noticed that she was looking directly at me and pointing to the round wall mounted mirror in our hotel room. Yes, it’s these moments of almost telepathic connection that define a couple who are truly in tune with each other. The new mirror arrived a couple of days after ordering it (thank you Amazon Prime) and arrived very well packaged and protected. To be frank, for the price I had assumed the mirror’s manufacturer would have cut some corners (build quality, finish, etc) but I am happy to report that the mirror is very well built. It is strong, moves on its arm easily, and is finished very well.As it comes out of the box the mirror has a cord that comes out of the bottom of the oval housing that attaches to the wall. You can see evidence of this cord if you look carefully at the picture on the Amazon product page. I didn’t do it, but it appears that the mirror can be hardwired by an industrious homeowner or an electrician hired by a not-so industrious homeowner. I say “industrious” because unless you happen to have an electrical junction box luckily located at your bathroom vanity, you are going to have to add said box and run house wiring to it. You would also have to modify the mirror’s power cord, route it through the included wall mounting flange, and mate the whole thing up to your recently added junction box.About that mounting flange. It is a flat-ish piece of metal that has holes in it through which you drive screws to hold the flange to the wall. It also has short threaded posts that go through the oval cover I previously mentioned. There are two small decorative balls that you screw onto the threaded rods which protrude from the oval cover. You can see these threaded balls in the product photo. So then, you have the mirror attached to the wall flange which is attached to the wall. When the mirror is fully extended it will apply a considerable amount of torque to that wall flange and will attempt to rip it out of the wall. What I am trying to say is that when you mount the wall flange, you will need to drive the mounting screws into a wall stud. Drywall anchors will not cut it. Please don’t ask me how I know this.In use my wife loves the mirror. It has decent light but it is not terribly bright. Both the regular and the magnifying mirror work well and are non-distorting. Because of the build quality the mirror and the arm it is attached to stay in whatever position you choose. It cleans up very well even when mildly covered in hairspray. One thing to be aware of, and I have no idea how to avoid this, the arm of the mirror has enough travel that when you fold it out of the way the arm’s joints can / will contact the wall. This contact will at a minimum leave marks on the wall and can over time scar the drywall.

Just what I was looking for. No distortion…Light not too bright.

Good value for the money at Amz
First thing first - it's always important to do comparison shopping before buying anything - and if you've done that, like I always do, you probably will agree that the price here, with free shipping and no tax, ALWAYS beats any price in any store, even when they are on sale.Having said that, this mirror is just one of the many many stuff I buy here at Amz, and once again, I find this a great buy for the $ for this product. When I read ratings, I usually start with the 1 or 2 stars, and move on to the next product if I find any of them sound reasonable. Keyword here is reasonable - I can't help but noticed that lots of folks rating low on a product either because it's not what they had expected, or didn't know how to operate (operator error), I just chuckled at those ratings as they really don't have credibility. I even remember one user rated a total Gym (that I bought here) that "the equipment must be built for a very tall person, since I couldn't reach the pulling handles"...I almost died laughing...HOW ELSE would you get traverse distant for the sliding board if your pulling handle just where you are sitting...your arms just suddenly grown longer to move the sliding board back and forth once you sit on it? LOL!To this mirror, most of the low rating is about the low lighting - NOT TRUE!!! It actually got me worried since my wife had been having one without electric plug forever, and the lighting was fine, and I was worried that this one was not even close - I WAS WRONG. It's exactly the same brightness. I guess those complained about the lighting being dim was counting on using it in a pitch black room...which I find it another "wrong expectation" or "operator error" ... the light is there to help highlighting, not meant to be the only light source, and it's fine as it is, as I really don't want to have to wear sun glasses when looking into a spot lighted magnified glass 4 inches away from my eyes! The mirror is easy to install, comes with dry wall hardware etc., it only took me (totally inapt on any labor or work that requires motor skill) less than 10 minutes to do the measuring, marking template, plugging in hardware and mounting the mirror.Long story long, it's a good product with a great price...I'm sure there are better quality product out there, but for this price, this is great for me!

I've had mine for 4 years
I've had my mirror for 4 years now and absolutely love it. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it anymore. Just make sure that whatever man is permanently installing on your wall, has you there to stand at the sink, for wall placement. I've had 3 installed by the same contractor and he's always installed so HE sees in the mirror, which for a short woman would be way too high. The mirror does move up and down, but, still, it would be nice if it was "face level" for the woman who is going to be using it.

Great unit has held up very well and get a lot of use.
My wife loves this light. The finish is very clean and great looking. We have had it installed for 6 months now, and just love it. It had been banged and hit but has held up really well. The arm is still stiff and holds in place like it should. A lot of people complain about the light not being bright enough, just take out the bulb and put in a higher wattage LED light. This shines in your face so I don't see how people can want a lot of light coming off of this unit. At any rate my life really likes it.

Perfect
Easy install and works great, caution putting too close to the mirror as you need to be careful when retracting as there are a number of ways for it to bend. That is much more about the user than the product. Works great
