Nostalgia - Excellent Value - Great Quality
Purchased this for nostalgic purposes and it works great with new and old floppy discs! Running an Intel based PC on Windows 11, I had issues with using the usb-c connector but usb-a worked fine. Great product!

Makes ancient files accessible.
This works well - plug a and play. Got it to go through old pix on floppy disks, and to download any interesting ones.

Very good product and excellent tech support.
I purchased this drive and it works perfectly. I did have an issue with my computer seeing the drive. I worked with the best tech support I have ever had to resolve the problem which we did. I would purchase from them again anytime.

Good but tricky
I am giving the four stars NOT because the seller did anything wrong. If you get this, keep in mind you need to use it on an older system. I have a system that has Windows 10, but it’s a brand new laptop and it was a nightmare trying to get these going.BUT when I got an older system, the photos from the floppy discs were easy, I’ve yet to be able to get the documents. I’ll have to find assistant even older than the one I used for the photos. Videos are pixelated and a little rough. also keep in mind that there may be moments where you have to unplug it and plug it back in. On initial set up, pay attention to the instructions, put the disc in first, then plug the system into the laptop. After a while of uploads, it may have some issues so unplug it and plug it back in. It is definitely worth the price if you have patience. Saw photos of my kids. I didn’t even know I had

Another failure
I might be a bit frustrated but being honest and sincere, this drive is a bust. it was unable to read a disk, then it read the disk fine. I was unable to see files on some disks, but reinserting the disk would show the files were there. I'd use copy and move with files I needed to backup, and it didn't work. The errors varied. Some say can't copy file, others went right to "disk not formatted" and that is just ridiculous. The files were still showing and not only that, I was even able to open the files and viewed them right from the floppy and yet this thing would not communicate with a USB port for copying or backing up. I used USB 2 and 3 ports on a desktop and 2 laptops trying to back the files to the respective hard drive and even tried directly to a USB thumb drive. Fail Fail Fail. I cannot judge others who had no problems but the drive I got was the worst experience I've had in years. No way is every single floppy disk I have damaged. I was able to get a few files to move but it only worked on Windows XP. Did not get any files to move using Windows 7 or Windows 10. No doubt this drive is defective or it's junk quality. Either way, there is no excuse for the functionality to be questionable on an item like this. After all these years, manufacturing one should not leave any room for error. A 15 minute job turned into several hours wasted just to try and read 7 disks. The year 1995 called and wants the tainted parts from this floppy drive back!

I'm Impressed
I didn't have high hopes for an external USB Floppy drive based on some of the reviews I was reading. I also figured even if I found one it would primarily work on Windows and I mainly use Mac and Linux. However then I took a chance on this drive and I have been very happy. I tested it out on a Windows 11 machine I have and read a bunch of my disks (some close to 30 years old) and things went very well. Then I plugged it into a Macbook 12" and it read and wrote to a Floppy disk as well. Then I plugged it into an Ubuntu host and it auto mounted and I was able to read and copy off of it. However by default it was mounted as root, so I needed to sudo to write anything to the drive. To top everything off, it includes both a USB-C and USB-A connection and no drivers or software was necessary on any of the operating systems! And it was one of the least expensive options listed! I couldn't ask for more! Now I can throw away my old computer!

Limitations of outdated media or the product?
It's hard to know. Right off the bat, there are a few things that one needs to know before use: 1) For desktops with towers, they recommend plugging into the USB port in the back of the tower. 2) The unit must be unplugged each time before reading a new disk or the new files will not be displayed. 3) It reads very slowly. 4) Many old files may be corrupted, or the disk may be unreadable - the computer will say it needs formatted, which would erase the existing files. This may not be the fault of this particular manufacturer, but I'm not going to try any others. I will accept the loss of unreadable files on my old floppy disks. It does seem like they released a prototype without field testing and considering user feedback to correct various annoyances. My first impulse was to leave one star with the title, "it's garbage" but this may be unfair. Two would be fair enough. Three allows for the outdated media issues. Floppy disks were easily damaged, e.g. grabbing one too tightly.

Good.
The order was said to arrive on a date, but was one day late - pretty good. I plugged the floppy drive into my computer and it recognized it as 'Drive A' immediately. Clicked on my old 'floppy drive file' that I wanted to recover, and there it was. I copied it, and opened it as a Word file. No problems - excellent.

Did not work for old Mac Floppy Disks
Though it appeared well built and it's physical operation was fine, in spite of everything I tried (utilizing my own experience as well as soliciting Gemini), I could not get it to recognize the old Mac formatted floppy discs from my dad.
