Deluxe two CD + DVD + Blu-ray edition. Housed in hardcover book with foldout gatefold design including reprinted 1969 essay from Rolling Stone, David Dalton original essay and set photographs from 1968. This live album and concert film were greeted as revelations when they surfaced in '96. Not only do we have the Stones with Brian Jones here, eight months before his death, but also long-lost performances by the Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, the slapped-together supergroup Dirty Mac (John Lennon, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton and Mitch Mitchell), Yoko Ono, Jethro Tull... all captured at a North London studio in December 1968. These amazing documents return here in hi-res audio; spontaneity and the communal spirit of the times dominate the proceedings as you hear the original release plus newly discovered material and never-before-released performances. Perfect-bound hardcover book with foldout gatefold design. Dual-format edition contains all extras, 2 CD soundtrack, essays and photographs from 1968. Hi-Resolution Mix and transfer of Soundtrack, expanded with 8 bonus tracks, including newly discovered audio. Features bonus performances, commentary tracks, and a video interview with Pete Townshend. Stunning 4K restoration performed in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos Sound.

Great performance
I thoroughly enjoyed this disc. As usual, The Who stole the show, but a young Jethro Tull was outstanding as were The Dirty Mac, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithful and the stones. I could have done without Yoko screaming, but that’s another story. If you haven’t seen this show, I highly recommend that you get it ASAP.

A re-release and upgrade that is worth replacing your 20 year old discs
This new release of the legendary Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus is only a slight upgrade to the original DVD/CD released in 1995. There is no new footage or commentary beyond the extras provided on the original release. Even the David Dalton essays are repeated. Oddly, the photo gallery from the original DVD is missing from this edition. Because this show was recorded in 1968, there is only so much that modern technology can do to improve the sound and visual quality. The colors on the video are noticeably brighter and cleaner, and the audio is just a bit more cleaner. There is a bonus that this edition provides over the 1995 release. A second CD contains the audio from the bonus performances by Taj Mahal, The Dirty Mac, and Julius Katchen that appear on the Blu-Ray and DVD. And there is never before released audio of The Dirty Mac rehearsing “Revolution” and “Warmup Jam.” Plus the Blu-Ray, DVD, and CDs are all in one package. In 1995, the DVD and CD were available only as separate releases. This is still a 5 star release as it was in 1995, and the upgrades make this more so.

Cool seeing the groups so long ago.
Nice item , just be aware that you will need an all region DVD player.

Rock and Roll Classic
I ordered the 50th anniversary on blu ray. I had the original Rock and Roll Circus on dvd. Its not much off an upgrade compared to the original. The Stones played a lot of unreleased tracks during their rehearsal for this film. They could have added these tracks for the disc. I wanted to see more Stones with Brian Jones, the founding member and leader of the Rolling Stones. Its still a great disc if you have never owned it especially seeing Brian Jones perform. IMO, The Stones out performed everyone just because of Brian Jones. cheers

Overpriced
I am giving the “deluxe version” a low rating of three just because of the price. I decided to splurge for the “deluxe” version but now see I could have got the same thing for about half the price or less even. The two audio discs are the same as the 2 disc set and I obviously don’t need both a DVD and a Blu-Ray disc. Otherwise it’s cool and if the money doesn’t matter to you get the deluxe set. The booklet isn’t much but there might be a tiny bit more info than you’d get otherwise. If I’m wrong please correct me. Also, why does the format say DVD? It’s two CDs, not DVD-audio discs. Then there is the DVD and Blu-Ray disc.

Inaccurate product description
Product description states 192/24. That’s why I replaced an earlier version. Unfortunately, that’s an error. Only 96/24.

Chronic vollector
I collect Rolling Stones kites of all kinds so a new deluxe issue was a had-to-have item. Very nice box - haven't opened yet. New in the box!!!

A blast from the past, in super high quality
For fans new and old, this is a great set to have or give to others. Having seen the Stones and others on the DVD set live in the 60tys, it is great to be able to see them in high quality in 2019.

I was there!
Brings back memories of being in the audience for most of the filming. Seeing all the great artists and being amongst them during breaks in filming. The package brings back those memories. Sound and vision great, performances also although I was little dubious of one of the written accounts in the package, whether this person was actually there.
