Premium price for a premium product.
I have bought about 5 other 22mm chisels to punch out holes in 1/16 abs plastic. This is the only one that held up. I honestly had no business using chisels to punch out holes on this scale, but it was all I had to work with in the short term. After punching over 10,000 holes in plastic my chisel had finally broke. Some people would be discouraged over this, but I couldn’t be more impressed that it held up for as long as it did. I beat this poor tool to death and finally broke it on the second to last plastic sheet I was working on. I’m recommending this arc punch set to anyone that is looking at the competition. I have used them all, and I have broken them all. This one was the sharpest, toughest, and most durable one I’ve encountered. The only downside was having to unscrew the punch to remove the plastic circles. Time was the price I paid for quality, durability, and consistency. 5 stars for my ol broken arc punch that served me well.

This worked on WOOD like a boss! Happy
Granted, I had a very specific use for this tool, but it did the job so well, I'm extremely happy with the price paid and the quality of the tool. It's heavy and sturdy and sharp and cut right through Wood! I needed a 3/8" hollow hole punch to make my own Wood Veneer screw hole plugs. So I was looking for something that would NOT damage the punched out hole piece- because that was the piece I wanted to keep. I did NOT want the needle point piercing the center so I simply unscrewed the tip a bit and added a metal washer disc to create the gap I needed. I re-built old salvaged wood doors and I had to build a new door jamb to adjust to the smaller door size, which I wood-stained as opposed to painting. And since I needed to remove the jamb often to readjust, I fastened using removable screws, not permanent nails. Then I countersunk the screw heads and left room for a veneer wood hole plug. I bought the veneer wood at Hobby Lobby and placed it under warm water for a few seconds to soften it a bit and protect the wood from splintering during the cutting process. Then I tapped the tool with a soft mallet and Voila!! 20 perfect hole covers in minutes! After staining and sealing, they blend right in. I LOVE this tool! Lowes sells the same exact set but under a different brand name for Way more. Totally worth the money.

Good Punches, could be sharper.
The punches work pretty well out of the box. I used them on 4 oz leather as an initial test. I was planning on returning them because they failed to cut holes with the bigger punches and it was difficult with the smaller sizes. I switched from a poundo board to scrap leather and it punched through both pieces and scratched the tile I was using. The poly cutting board seemed to give me the best results. Another review suggested a pine backing, The centering pin is spring loaded and retracts well, It does leave a small hole in the piece. The pin is easily removable if you do not want the mark. It would get 5 stars if the punches were sharper and the center pin was longer. For the price it is an excellent set of punches.

Works perfect
Works great if you don't want the center punch sticking out I took the rubber handle off removed the set screw and flipped it upside down and put the spring and center punch back in and reinstalled the set screw and handle so the piece's are all there to flip back if I want the center punch sticking out

Great for making felt circles
I actually purchased this to use as a hole punch to create felt circles. The circles were easy to make; I just used a wooden board, rubber headed hammer and the hole punch. Each circle came out perfectly. The punch quality is great and they also came with a case.

Punch Set Near Perfect
Packaging says made in China. No instructions. Bought this to create a supply of plastic washers. Have punched out about 150 of these in 3 sizes. Generally worked great. Found 3 issues. As you punch, the cutter tends to vibrate loose, and you need to keep checking/tightening it. 2nd is that one time the screw which holds in the center point came loose enough that the whole point and spring popped out. Replacing the screw with a nylon tipped version or brass screw might be a better solution. 3rd is that there is some play with the center point but was surprised that in use it mostly marks the punched piece in the center. This of course is very helpful to perform concentric punches when creating washers where the inner dia is punched as the 2nd operation. The point screw needs to be in a position loose enough to allow free movement of the point yet set deep enough to retain the point. The punches are sharp, so that in many cases required only one blow to make the cut and hard enough that they held their edge. The machine finish on the punches is excellent. Supplied case is well fitted to keep punch heads in place. Not perfect yet pleased with this very good value.

Cheaply made, but overall decent for the price
The main reason I gave this kit 3 stars is the sellers misleading or untrue statements. For example, the description says this is rust resistant--but it doesn't appear to be rust resistant at all. Mine came with a slight sheen of rust on every piece that mostly rubbed off with a cloth and gun oil. The edges are not as sharp as you would want them, with some small chips in the edge visible to the naked eye. Fit and finish is rough, with surfaces that should be polished and edges that should be ground down being rough or sharp--small dents and scraps all over the handle. Lastly, whatever coating they put on this steel is so thin you can see through it, which is probably why it rusted some. There was a lightweight oil all over the inside of the case, but it was so light it appears to have just run off the parts instead of sticking and preventing corrosion. Oh, and the case is extremely weak and flimsy, the hinges and latches barely holding the lid closed. Having said that, you can't find a cheaper set of gasket punches, anywhere, and if you are handy they work just fine. Clean them up, sharpen them on a lathe or drill to remove chips and get them razor sharp. Apply a little gun blueing or paint to prevent corrosion, and sand or file down sharp edges on the center punch so it actuates smootly. Speaking of the centering pin--it's too short to work on my kit. The tip of the pin doesn't extend past the edfe of the blades, so you can't set the pin on a marking to center your circle. Fixing this can be done in several ways, but the best way is to just drill a new hole about a half to a quarter inch closer to the blade side end of the handle. Re-thread the hole and add a set screw and now your pin will extend past the edge of your blade, but retract into the handle as you use the punch. At the time of this writting all I have done is remove the tool, examine and clean the parts, an write this review. I don't know how well they will last, or how often I will have to sharpen them. I can however tell anyone unfamiliar with punches that you NEED a proper cutting surface to use your punches on, or you WILL dull or wreck your cutters in short order. Good luck!

Great peice of kit, used on so many projects
This tool has come in handy for so many small projects. Keep on top of oiling the dyes though as they are prone to rusting rather quickly.

Hole punch kit - Works as advertised
Before using the kit I checked all the hole punches, they were sharp and well made. Then I made a couple of Thermostat housing gaskets for my 1989 Jeep Wrangler YJ. The centre hole I needed in the gasket was a bit larger than the largest hole punch, so I used that to chop away until I had the right hole size/shape. Bolt holes punched out cleanly and exactly as needed. For a backing board, as I punched through the gasket material I used an old kitchen nylon cutting board to keep the punches sharp. Plywood would work just as well. 2lb ( 1KG) hammer did the trick. Overall, happy with the kit.

Werkt niet voor stof
3 sterren omdat hij voor mij voor stof niet werkt, misschien wel voor andere materialen.
