Contains all the info, but the book itself is poorly printed
This is a great book and a well-known source of information on the topic. It contains all the information and illustrations, but the product itself is either badly printed, or defective as the pages are cut so that the header of each page is cut, sometimes as much as 50%. What appears to be a stain on the top pages of the closed book is actually this chopped off printing.

A Comprehensive Visual Treat
Splendid coverage of the 30 Years War from A to Z depicting the soldiers and horses, dress, arms and armor, formations, fighting techniques, siegecraft and etc. The drawings are beautifully rendered.I will say the book seems to have suffered somewhat in the reproduction process. Several images are unfortunately compressed either horizontally or vertically, or cropped such that the edges of the illustration have been obscured. And without having seen the original, it's hard to judge if the color quality has also been diminished. Certainly there is nothing within so vivid as the front and back cover. That said, the illustrations have a charm of their own with a rather subdued but not unattractive palette, almost as if period images had been filled in with watercolors.Regardless, this book rates 5 stars based on the quality of the content.

Nice book but is more an illustrations collection rather a history book in the classical meaning. Good for teenagers and figurine painters.

One of the best, if not the best book I have ever seen on the 30 Years War. And has excellent drawings on almost every page.A must for anyone interested in the period.

Three Stars
This proved more useful as a reference than a game manual.

I got it at a good price, but I would not buy it again
Not much information on the campaigns, armies or uniforms. Lots of plates on period drill and such. I got it at a good price, but I would not buy it again.

The Thirty years war never looked so good.
What a beautiful publication. This is a must for anyone who has an interest in the thirty years war. It takes pride of place in my small collection of books on this subject.

Production a shade of the original
The contents of this book are first rate in fact anyone interested in this period should have a copy on their bookshelf. I got a first edition years ago but sadly lent it to someone who didn't return it. I have long thought it should be reprinted but this production is not of the quality this book deserves. However it is a least available again even though it is over priced for the quality of production.By the way the cover shown is not the cover on this edition of the book.
