Creating Apps in Kivy: Mobile with Python 1st Edition

Haven't finished the entire book yet but so far much better than most tutorials/ instructionals I've used (especially for kivy). The code snippets in the book can be a challenge to follow for a newbie but the author has links to the complete code for each step which I really appreciate. Book format is messed up in eReader / mobile devices but don't think you can fault the author for that

This book traces a single project throughout all of the chapters. This limits the scope of the material covered. But what the book lacks is readily available online. Do not bother with the recommended program editor. A more generic editor like Ultraedit is a far better buy.

Very good book. Follow the "weather app" project, I can learn the skill of kivy programming. Helpful in my new touch screen mobile project.

The author's terminology mapping is lax, he emphasizes the difficulty of installing and deploying Kivy in Windows, and generally does not teach well as he assumes certain things while loosely explains others. Skip this one and go directly to Roberto Ulloa's boo; the very first pages of his most recent work set a tone of order and ease of use that this book is far from having.

A little dated and some of the examples didn’t work. Doesn’t explain how to read the kivy documentation which is a little enigmatic if you’re a novice programmer.

It's easy to understand. The author used many examples to explain how to use these kivy objects.

Don't get this book. It depends on an online API that has changed twice. In short the codes won't work and you'll spend more time researching fields and syntax for a website than you will learning Kivy.You'll run code and won't know if you are the cause of the error or the bookAny recent review (6months+) that doesn't mention this, is written by someone who hasn't gotten very far in the examples

Much more effective using this book as a reference than Google

No more content printed on this book than online official reference.It doesn't have any tips and tricks, and has few example.Examples on the official github repository is more and more useful.

It has a nice and easy introduction to Kivy covering the basic aspects of Kivy better then the documation online. But I was a bit surprise that the book also tries to teach some programming, and as an experienced developer, I see myself having to skip whole pages. But it's worth for the less experienced.

This book - despite the name is not just applicable to writing mobile apps (iOS or Android) alone. It's a brilliant primer for writing desktop apps too.It addresses the simple layouts and events and moves on quickly to the important and clear explanation of how to link the GUI description to the Python code making it all a breeze.

As many manuals out there, it is a lot of chat chat but how to use the commands to built custom programs remains unknown as before reading the manual. More than a guide is a showcase of the author's work. I sent it back.
