PHP & MySQL Web Development All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies

Good book for me, a beginner coming up to speed on PHP and MYSQL. There are enough examples to illustrate the functions, syntax and the like. I had to take over supporting a set of php applications that had no comments or documentation. The book was very helpful for me correct a number of php code issues and make the system work.

GREAT book!! Perfect for beginners, but still good enough for somewhat experienced users.I had my site up and running with loads of php scripts, mysql query's etc. in just a week after I got this book, complete with log-in pages, registration, and other fancy bells and whistles.After this, I got a couple other books for more advanced coverage, but still find myself turning back to this book quite frequently.highly recommended for anyone looking to learn php.

I got this book for a class in PHP and MySQL, and it has proven extremely helpful. It is very clear and easy to understand. I highly recommend it for beginners in PHP.

Very understandable and helpful - the only drawback is the lack of DATA for the MySQL examples. The examples need data to function, but I find it a 'pita' to create data while you are analysing the code.

I little too lean in some areas but other than that its exactly what it says it covers some bases and will get you started but thats about it

If you want to learn about web page development this one of the products for you. I have found it very helpful and easy to use.

All the Dummies books I've seen are good and this one is excellent! Janet Vallade really knows her stuff and she walks you through until suddenly you look back and see how far you've come. I'm already a developer and wanted to build my skills and yet this book is still very helpful.If you're new to PHP development or even intermediate this book is a must have if you want to advance quickly. I bought it as a reference to keep on the shelf and refer to for years to come. It really does contain everything you need to know.

Taking a website forward to an interactive level rather than just for viewing requires forms and databases for the users and this book helps a great deal in starting you off on that journey.You need to know something about writing HTML before tackling this but apart from that it's a doddle.If you are familiar with the "for dummies" books, this one is just as good and is a great help.

A good book to help one get to grips with what for many of us is an alien subject. The title makes me smile as as far as I can see it is definitely NOT for dummies.

Bought this for my son he tells me it is a good guide to the subject and he still refers to it. Very useful.

A good book to learn from, but I have not really used it in anger.
