Worth the Money
I have read all the books, my wife & I have seen all the seasons of the TV show. We both love the entire series. My wife is a huge fan of grahic novels so I thought I will buy the first two volumes for her to see how she likes it. She not only likes it, she loves it. The characters are very well done and the artistry is pretty cool. What better way to read a phenomenal story than as a graphic novel. Definitely waiting for Volume 3.

Continuing An Excellent Adaptation
This is the second of a series of four graphic novels that adapts George R. R. Martin's novel of the same name. The first season of the HBO series was adapted from the same novel, but seasons 2 through 5 are adaptations of later novels in the series. (A Game of Thrones is the title of Martin's first novel, not the later books in the series.) So, If you're looking to compare this volume to the TV series, it corresponds to the second quarter of season 1. It starts just as Tyrion is beginning to leave the wall and ends with Jaime attacking Ned Stark in the streets. The illustrations are beautiful and the book does a good job of telling George Martin's original story. And, although I have both seen the TV series and read the original novel (and love both), this book manages to be engaging and unique in its own right. This is a new adaptation of the novel and it stays closer to the source material than the HBO series. Character designs are closer to their descriptions in the book and dialog is lifted directly from the novel more often. You do occasionally get more detail (or at least DIFFERENT details) in this adaptation of Martin's extremely complex novels than you do in the TV series. So, it does complement the show nicely. However, it's still pretty close to being a version the TV series in comic book form. Season 1 of the series was itself relatively faithful to the book. So, the graphic novel is not all that different. I'm hoping the creators of the graphic novels make it all the way to adapting Martin's fourth novel, where the TV series began to depart significantly from the books it's based on. It would be nice to see Martin's original ideas in graphic form. Additionally, each volume of the graphic novel has some very nice material at the end concerning the making of this particular adaptation. It's good extra reading and nice to see the creator's insights on how they adapted this epic novel. Finally, like the TV series, this is definitely NOT for children. The levels of sexuality and violence depicted here are comparable to the HBO series. If you wouldn't want your kids watching the TV show, you wouldn't want them reading this.

Like the books but in comic form.
As a person who's read the entire book series and have seen the HBO series all the way up to the end of the (current) season 6 finale, you won't be missing anything by skipping this comic series. It's not bad and does sort of add a few things from the visual perspective that you won't see in the TV series because of book editing, but, other than that, it's not really worth your time unless you want to experience the first book spread across six or so graphic novels.

Great read !
Great read! Follows the book well. Great way to "read" the story with just the most essential parts.

Triumphant!
Much improvement since the first volume in the comic book adaptation of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. The women's characters aren't drawn so much like "bimbo's" in these issues and the spelling errors are at a noticeable minimum. I think in the first volume I counted six spelling and grammar errors and in this volume there were only two. I enjoyed the art and adaptation of this volume more than the first. And the behind the scenes look at how they adapt these issues is also very interesting. It concentrates particularly on the tourney chapter so you can get an idea at how much work and sweat go into just one chapter so you can appreciate just how much work is put into this comic book series overall. Definite hard work.

Great gift book!
This book (and the first one) is a great gift for fantasy fans! My elderly husband and his adolescent grandson both loved it. My husband has embraced graphic novels because of their ties to the comic books of his youth, if you have not considered a graphic novel for an older man, try it. And, this is a great series, these books are "keepers".
