Can I cut the cigarette lighter off to expose the bare wire and then use a fuse splitter to hook it up to constant power? What color is ground?

There are several answers here that are wrong/misleading. They don't understand the difference between AC & DC systems. AC has a hot, neutral & usually (but not always) ground - no positive or negative. (I won't even touch 3 phase AC systems here, but google it if you're interested.) DC has positive and negative - no neutral - and either + or - can be the ground (though it is almost always a negative ground). If someone tells you there's no negative or positive, just look at your car battery and you will see a + (positive) and a - (negative). 99.9% of vehicles today are made with a negative ground. There are a few (especially older British cars) that have a positive ground. Assuming a negative ground, red is positive and black is both negative and ground. So, you can connect the red wire to a fuse splitter as you stated and attach the black to just about any bare metal in your vehicle. If you have the room to hide it, I would recommend getting an aftermarket add-on 12v port/cigarette lighter which you could then wire as you said while keeping the original wiring harness intact which would keep the manufacturer's fuse in the circuit. I want to use these in my bmw and i would like to have them the same amber color as the interior lights, does it do the same amber color as bmw?

When you use the app on your phone you can “customize” a color..... it’s not going to be perfect but You should be able to get something fairly close
