CamcoEaz-Lift Elite 1200lb Weight Distribution Hitch with Height Adjustable Forged Shank (48059)

I recently got a new tow vehicle and wanted a second hitch for it as I'm keeping my old tow vehicle in case I need to tow with it. The new vehicle's hitch receptacle is higher than the other, and I didn't want to have to change the height going back and forth between the two vehicles, so I got this as it's identical to the one I already had. Thus, I didn't have to change anything on the trailer, and I have a hitch dedicated for each tow vehicle.The hitch works fine as a weight-distributing hitch, though the anti-sway bar doesn't help much when you have a reasonable crosswind, get passed by a semi, or get hit by a gust of wind. For that, we installed an electric sway controller to augment this hitch. Our RV has a max weight of 4500 pounds, so good sway control is a must as everything adversely affects it.The first hitch developed some corrosion in one of the tension bar retaining pins, so we have to tap the pin into place, but other than that, it's been a good hitch for our purposes.

Here is a pic of how I found the hitch I ordered ....Apparently the flimsy box broke apart while UPS guy was unloading it . Was found in a pile on the sidewalk . Hitch looks well made but box was junk . Shipping was fast . Haven't used it yet.

Verify length of shank needed. Mfg will offer to sell you a longer one for another $125, but will not credit you for the one you have already paid for.

product is great. instructions seemed slightly difficult, however I watched videos on youtube to gain a better understanding to put together. The weight distribution is great and I feel no sway in my travel trailer, even going at highway speeds.

Was disappointed when it was delivered as the box was all but destroyed and I thought some parts might have fallen out, but to my surprise there was no damage and no missing parts. Installation is actually easy, but not if you try to read the directions. Once you install one, the 2nd would be simple! If you know someone that has one, have them walk you through it cause its way easier than whats in the directions. I have a 2011F250diesel and a 2017 Forest River XLR toy hauler and it works great with my set up. Had to run the hitch up pretty high with the "L" receiver block upside down. That kept the heavy tongue weight from dropping my truck (OEM suspension) more than 2". Played with the chains till I got the weight distribution bars parallel to the frame at 5 links. The anti sway bar takes some learnin' as well, just dont leave it at "full" "braking" on sharp turns as it will literally rip the ball base right off the trailer frame. I loosened the lower bolt from the "factory" setting so I can full lock the upper lever which appears to be correct. I also loosen the lever once I leave the highway and tighten it as we get ready to get on the highway. that way I can maximize the anti sway and it seems to work very well at highway speeds. Would definitely buy this set up again. Only thing that would make it better is a "shocker" hitch setup.

This is a great hitch, only it did not come with the hardware necessary for installation. My mechanic was quite disappointed when they opened the box and saw the hardware missing. It would be great if the company would send the hardware along.

I bought this hitch a few months back when the price was low, and have only just now got around to installing it. I'll say I'm pleasantly surprised! The instructions that come with this hitch are very detailed and makes installation as easy as possible. As for how the trailer now tows, it's much better then it was with a plain old tow bar. The sag on the truck is minimal (1 1/2") and although I haven't installed the sway control bar, the sway has already greatly reduced in windy conditions.Overall I'm very happy with the quality and performance of this hitch and would definitely recommend it to anyone pulling a trailer.

OUTSTANDING. The difference is unbelievable. The sway control is fantastic....When you're going straight down the highway. It's when you're in town or turning it becomes alarming. The noise from the sway control bar when turning sounds like something is going to snap off, brake or shatter and due to a lack of information in the instructions and not wanting anything to wrong. I found myself trying to find any location I could fit on the side of the road before entering a town, pulling over and loosening the sway control as much as possible. Not sure if it was necessary but my instincts (not the instructions or internet) told me that I probably should do this from now on. Loosening the bar doesn't take long and requires minimal effort but it became tedious after the third or fourth town.

Happy with purchase. Good solid hitch.Easy setup. 2019 ram 1500. Thirty foot travel trailer. I haven't tried tweaking it yet. Just bought the trailer and I set it up quick before picking up the trailer. When I dropped it on the truck and trailer were almost perfectly level . I think I had just under an inch of sag. Put a little air in my spring bags and it leveled out nicely. Haven't hooked up the anti sway yet. I didn't have any issues towing it home. Not sure if I'll use it yet. Definitely Good hitch for the money .

The hitch worked well for weight distribution, the best way to start the installation is to have it almost level and work back from there.The anti-sway bar attachment seemed to be poorly designed. The handle that allows it to slide freely is cumbersome and too long. I will cut it off and use a socket and ratchet to tighten instead. I also found the anti-sway bar to be quite noisy (growling and groaning) when cornering so I removed it temporarily. I will reinstall it if I’m going to tow the unit on the highway.
