Just installed on '03 Yamaha Big Bear 400. Took about 30 minutes (should be about average if you are familiar with carbs). Easy install. All parts needed cam in box. After install, started immediately and idled as expected. Only needed slight adjustment on the idle adjuster. Would purchase again.

I picked up a 2002 Yamaha big bear 400. This quad already had a new aftermarket carburetor. It idles great but when you give it throttle it boggs and turns off. Ended up picking this one up. Threw it in there without changing a thing (The kit comes with two extra jets) or making any adjustments. The quad works great, I'm able to rev it up with no issues! Now obviously the only thing that has to be adjusted is the idle adjuster knob. On to the next repair.

My 20 year old Yamaha Big Bear 400 has having carb issues (I think a stuck float). I ended up getting it stuck in the woods, down a steep hill. I've never replaced a carb before, but found a tutorial on YouTube and it seemed doable. I bought this carb off Amazon, took my tools out into the woods, and was able to replace it. The hardest part was getting the throttle cable back in place. I had to move the old screw-thing that two wires attach to into the new carb, but that wasn't a big deal. When I had it all in place I said a little prayer, hit the ignition button, the ATV started right up! I still need to adjust the choke and the throttle some (and now I know how), but I was able to drive it out of the woods without issue, and get'er home.

Cost was very reasonable, easy installation, works as advertised.

This carb fits a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 and it will run, but it will not run correctly. Spit and sputter and only idle with half choke. You will have to cannibalize used parts off the OEM card that you're replacing to make it run correctly (if you're lucky).... this carb is not a bolt on and your all set. Save yourself the hassle and wasted money and buy a Genuine Mikuni Yamaha- 5TE-E4101-01-00. I found one on eBay for $150.00, a bit more than this one (you get what you pay for). My old OEM carb lasted 19 years, so I would recommend to buy a Genuine Mikuni Yamaha Carb and be done with it.

Note, spring and plunger are already in the choke. They’re not in a separate parts bag so beware it’s gonna fly other than that plug-in play man went down the road since I put it on the hauling ass good carburetor I definitely recommend.

Worked perfect just in stalled and no adjustments needed was a breeze
