Ham Radio Towers
Regularly climb Rohn 45 and 55. Many years used nothing but a lanyard wrapped around the tower. This is a much better and safer system. Tower professionals would probably prefer lighter weight hardware. Equipment represents a good value and appears to be very well constructed.

Excellent for climbing ham radio towers
I bought this lanyard to safely climb my DMX / Delhi amateur radio tower. I needed a lanyard with two hooks so I'm always tied off while climbing. The hooks easily fit around the legs of the tower and are very simple to open one-handed while climbing. Quality is excellent and while I haven't experienced a fall, I'm confident this lanyard will do it's job if I ever do. The straps on this lanyard are elastic so they don't dangle and get snagged as much as non-elastic versions. However they do tend to be in my face more. It's a personal preference I guess, but I would stick with the elastic if ordering again. I originally borrowed a lanyard from a professional climber friend which had aluminum hooks. While they were obviously lighter, the steel hooks on this lanyard are fine for my occasional use and not overly heavy. I'm glad I didn't pay extra for aluminum. It isn't clear if this lanyard is CSA approved. The hooks are clearly stamped CSA but the straps and overall assembly are not, but rather meet American standards. I accept this for my own personal use but some work sites may not. Remember this is part of the fall arrest system. It saves you after a fall but doesn't prevent falls. I use a separate positioning belt and lanyard for that. Overall I'm very happy with this lanyard and would recommend it to other amateur tower climbers.

Only complaint would be the lack of a swivel on the hook that connects the lanyard to the harness. The legs of a harness continually wrapped around each other, which makes it difficult to transfer your hooks if you have a lot of obstacles in the way.
