Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining [Sheindlin, Judge Judy] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining Review: Good book, should be required reading, but some qualms... - I really loved the book, it was very obvious that Judge Judy wrote it. I could hear her voice narrating as I read through the stories. I love the message and while many people might disagree, it's one that needs to be stated: TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS, is the basic message and point of the book. That said, I did have a few qualms or issues. 1. A lot of repetitive stories and points; a lot of the stories are the same and end with the same moral or message and I feel didn't need to be there. 2. I took issue with some of the spelling and punctuation. Especially the misspelling of "prerogative." And when I was reading a quote from someone and there were no quotation marks, it bothered me. There were quotation marks sometimes, and other times there weren't. 3. I would've liked it if she elaborated and developed more some of the cases. Instead of bombarding us with various kinds of the same cases-welfare, drug addict mother with X kids- I would have preferred if she focused on a few stories and told us all of the details. It seemed like the cases had little to no development before we moved on to the next section of the book. 4. Some of the transitions from section to section within the chapters were awkward. But with that said, I loved the overall point of the book and it's something that needs to be said. And as JJ points out, only she seems to have the chutzpah to say it. Everyone else is just covering their own you-know-whats. I also like how even though the book was written in the 1990's and illustrates the 1980s-1990s; it's a timeless book and can be applied to today. I would argue, however, that things have gotten worse and would LOVE to see JJ author a book about the New Millennium. Maybe some day she will? Nevertheless--I strongly recommend this book, not only because I love JJ, but as a "required life reading," because it has a lot of words of wisdom people NEED to hear to become productive members of society! That's just my two cents. RBL Review: Excellent Read! - Excellent read. I very much enjoyed!

Judge Judy Talks On an Interview and Gets it Transcribed by a Writer, The Book
It's written in the style of speech-put-into-writing which I hate - it is very obviously transcribed, perhaps even live-transcribed and lacking a twice-over. Aside from that, the book is respectable and came in good shape. There are numerous grammar errors present in the book, but they are not major. For this reason, I have subtracted a star. This is a bit like reading the audio transcription of a podcast. It's still fun to learn about Judge Judy and her life and opinions, but a more respectable and serious writing style would only benefit such a respectable and serious individual.

An Author Who Enjoys Books of Value
As I read this book, I could hear Judge Judy's voice telling me these stories. It is excellent and makes me appreciate this lady very much. Judge Judy is not just a wise judge but an excellent author. When I would start reading this book, it was hard to stop. Reading this book, I just am amazed by her sense of humor since so much selfishness, greed and lack of respect come before her in so many cases each day. She's tough, she's honest and she is smart with conviction. If every judge was like her and every lawyer, policeman, caseworker, etc. maybe people would grow up. This book is a compilation of so many actual experiences that show the wisdom of this Judge. I really enjoyed "Don't Pee on my Leg and Tell Me It's Raining," Sounds like her Dad taught her well.

Great book
I would recommend this book for anyone wanting more insights into the world of foster care, custody battles and juvenile delinquency. Judge Judy tells it like it is. Plenty of real life anecdotes make this a very interesting read. There are also plenty of times when Judge Judy will have you laughing. Even though this book was written several years ago, the issues described in this book still plague us today and Judge Judy’s recommended fixes are still very much needed. After reading this I want to read more of her books.

Loved this book. The author is spot on.
I loved this book. The author is spot on. I am a social worker/psychotherapist and I frequently see exactly what she is talking in this book in my work each week. I think prisons and jails are full of people who were raised in homes with few if any parental limits. Being soft on offenders only harms them and all of us. The same is true for children. Good parenting is about rewarding children when they do good things and giving firm, meaningful consequences when they do bad things. I also have seen so many people on disability who should not be. I've seen long term disability do far more harm to people than good. I truly believe our country and all of us would be far better off if we implemented the changes she proposes.

A really interesting read, and I can’t believe it’s still so relevant. She’s smart, she’s sensible, and takes no nonsense. Informative, though at times, you’ll struggle to breathe due to laughing too much.
