moles
The yard looks a lot better. The moles do not like it. It's solar and you have to reset it when you don't hear it beep.

They work on ground squirrels -- until they stop working.
Installed these using a spike to make a snug fitting hole in the soil; pushed them in up to the molded handle -- follwed instructions carefully. Two days in the sun, then turned them on. The ground squirrels ran around like crazy, way more active than usual, then they started avoiding the area these were installed in. Then they stopped working. Way too soon. Two out of three dead in less than 30 days. I would pay more for a durable version of these. Pure landfill junk.

Give it a try, it’s working for me.
Easy to install. Solar works great so far. It seems my moles are moving out.

Great purchase. Glad I took reviews with grain of salt.
Has held up well. I got the solar powered option. No moles since install. Happy with purchase and worth the price. Will purchase again.

Unreliable, stick to battery powered ones.
I purchased these in May but they haven't really lasted. One refuses to make any sound at all, the other one also wasn't working until I smacked it. The one that won't work, I disassembled and noticed multiple crimped areas in the wires, they are quite thin and are routed poorly. There's no water damage but they haven't been sorayed with water so no surprise there. There is no seal around the clear section on top, so a good spray would easily penetrate. I'm going to re-wire both and see what happens. As I dug in I discovered that it was not outputting voltage to the battery when switched on, which suggests, to me at least, that either there's a serious design flaw or these things are just borked.

SEE UPDATE: Bonide FAILED after TWO MONTHS.
(May 2015) I hope it's not a fluke, or coincidence, but I put the stake in according to the instructions, and i haven't seen the little mole bastards back since. This device has a different screech than the Sweeney's version. It actually sounds like a mole in distress vs the Sweeney sonic stake that seems designed to annoy vs scare. But, the result is that I haven't seen any more mole burrows since the day after I put it in the ground. I was worried about hearing the device, but if placed properly -- a one inch wide hole dug about 12 inches into the ground, sensor up exposing it to at least 4 hours of direct light per day -- it emits a noise well underground so you would NOT be able to hear it unless you were next to it and it was very quiet outside. Even then, it's a low whine that won't disturb you even if you are in the yard. But it seems to frighten the rodents! The device is weatherproof (be sure to place it low in the ground so you don't have mower issues) but plan to pull it out (and turn it off) for winter storage (when moles aren't around anyway). I am pleased, but will update this review at the end of the summer or when/if the moles return. UPDATE (June 2015): I bought this sonic stick in early May, it worked fine (see review above), but in mid-June, it stopped working, and now moles have returned. No reset, no indicators, no sound! Useless piece of plastic now. I pulled up the Bonide version, replaced it with the Sweeney's version, and no moles again. $20 for two months of Bonide protection/repellent is unacceptable!

Save your money, skip this product
Purchased 2 units. One failed after 5 weeks (just after the 30 day return window). Contacted the manufacturer (Exhart) and after a couple of back-n-forth emails I have been rewarded with silence and have lost hope for a resolution (credit or a replacement unit). If you do purchase these just note that they are noisy. You have to be at least 100' away from them so if you are thinking about installing them near a seating area you might want to consider that.
