Only spent a little time with it, but I like it!
It's really a five star product; however, I wish this was consolidated into just the key I wanted. Also, instead of telling me to transpose they just wrote it all out in all of the keys.

Book for budding improvisers - but lots of duplication for the different instrument types
This is the largest music book I've come across so far, with over 280 pages of scales, phrases, and licks with some supporting theory provided for guidance. It is aimed at aspiring jazz improvisation musicians and is suitable for Bb, Eb, C and Bass Clef instruments. It's not suitable for beginners, unless your tutor has recommended it, as it requires a basic knowledge of music theory. However, the reason that there are so many pages is because the initial chapters focus on C instruments with the examples and exercises for the other instruments in later chapters. This means that -• C instruments are from page 1 to 90• Bb instruments are from page 91 to 155• Eb instruments are from page 156 to 219• Bass Clef instruments are from page 220 to 283So if you play one type of instrument, you will only ever use about a quarter of this book!Because of the size and weight of this book, you will need a substantial music stand to support it and I needed to attach bull dog clips to secure it to my stand due to thickness of the book. The publisher, Hal Leonard, provides play-along audio tracks for practising the exercises and for developing improvisation technique. These are downloaded from the Hal Leonard online audio library using a code hidden inside the book's cover. This seems to be the preferred method by this publisher instead of providing a CD. I added the tracks to my iTunes library so I have easy access, or you can log into your Hal Leonard library of tunes at any time, providing you have internet connection. The book is focussed on the II - V - I chord progression and this is a good basis to start exploring improvisation. I am playing my way through the examples, and it is helping me gain confidence.Overall, I think that this book is suitable for intermediate level and above players who wish to improve their improvisation. But the size and weight of the book together with the lack of a CD may be off-putting for some.

This is a comprehensive book on the 2-5-1 Jazz progression
This is a 'must have' book for anyone learning to play the saxophone or even the piano. It is a great source of material that details the II V I progression. There are many backing tracks that can be downloaded to enable one to play along with when practising. An excellent book!
