Perfect for duck pond
I've been struggling with ball valves on my little duck pond. Messy duck water kept fouling the valves and they'd get stuck within a couple of weeks. This gate valve is the perfect solution. It has withstood messy duck water and hasn't stuck once. I do have to make sure there's no sediment in the bottom of the gate channel or it will not seal properly. But the solution turned out to be simple: turn on the garden hose and run clean water through while closing the valve. That prevents any crud from setting in that bottom gate channel. The valve installs easily on 2" PVC. I didn't use glue because the water isn't under much pressure. The fit was perfect. The valve has endured twice daily opening and closing with no problems. This thing has solved a million problems for my garden ducks' pond.

Works well, easy open/close
I have a few of these on my pond's filtration system. They are very easy to open and close, the gate keeper is an added safety bonus for the lines that should be kept in the open position unless cleaning. These are much easier to use than a ball valve and depending on layout they can be more space saving. However they are not meant to be used as a flow control; on/off only is the safe usage. Since I have purchased a number of these, I can say there are lines in the plastic housing from the mold. I am not sure if the other reviewer was referencing these but they are not cracks, just mold lines. All of the 6 I purchased have these same lines on the side of the unit. I purchased them from Amazon and other retailers so it seems universal.

Easy to operate and good value.
It arrived on time. I used it on a Koi pond filter. I am amazed how much it is easier to operate than the common PVC ball valve. Highly recommended.
