Porch Living

As with all of Mr. Farmer's books, you feel as if you sitting with a neighbor chatting about decorating over a glass of tea with a sprig of mint in it! The pictures of the porches featured in this book are so vivid and real that you feel as if you could climb in and put your feet up and relax. Whoever does the photography for his set of books does an outstanding job and no detail is overlooked on any of the porches. Have looked at the book several times since getting it and plan to keep looking because I see more significant things that I missed each time I pick it up. Definitely a great book for anyone wanting to finish a porch area that is welcoming and relaxing for entertaining guests. You know in the south, a porch is an extension of your home, another room if you will, because our weather can be mild year round. For such a young man, he is talented in all areas of food, entertaining, decorating and teaching you to decorate your space as an extension of you....not because some decorator brought a piece to your home and said to use it. When you are surrounded by things that you love, you tend to love the space so much more. Love, love, love this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to make their porch a place that people always want to congregate in.....and love to come to. What greater compliment could there be!!!!

This treasure was given to me as a gift so I’ve made a tradition of giving a copy to others! Beautiful photos, great ideas and a joy to explore!

If you're not familiar with James Farmer, you may not like this book; however, if you've read his other books, you "get" it. Inspiration and elegance are this book's purpose.

As I said in the above critique, I am very disappointed in this book and wish I had never purchase. My advise would be not to waste your money. I guess I will use it in my guest bedroom.

If you like James Farmer you will love this book :) I purchased to complete my collection of his books. Wasn’t disappointed

Sad to say, but I found way more useful inspiration photos from a quick google search... Not sure what this book is for... I am building a big screened porch on my house and bought a couple of books hoping to have some real useful information, but it really is just a highly staged group of photos of really rich old peoples porches. Didn't provide any value for me.
