Erva Pole Bluebird Mounting Pole w/Stability Blade 2 Piece

This item is superb. It comes in two pieces. It is solid steel not hollow. There is a friction fit between the top and bottom. Male top n female bottom connection (this is a design error, the female part should be on the top. The current design with the female part on the bottom captures water which promotes rust... Thus the need to use sealant). I recommend filling the female portion with clear silicon sealant before assembly n wipe excess off.This is a relatively heavy item. It comes well packed but there is contact in shipping. It cannot be helped. I recommend a complete coat with Rustoleum black spray paint before putting it outside. These type of things need scrubbing and painting every few years anyway. Just about the time you would want to change out the bird house.There are two horizontal through holes near the top. The first is about a half inch from the top and the second is exactly six inches below the top hole center line. This allows for a vertical bird house mount as opposed to a horizontal pedestal mount. I used #8 stainless steel two inch bolts with nylon lined SS nuts. Use #8 n #10 washers together so the bolt won't pull through the bird house wood. I used the same washers on the nut side also. I also used two #10 washers between the bird house and the steel rod to give a gap for air to dry the wood and steel. The two inch bolts are long but make assembly easy. One and 3/4 inch long bolts would be optimum. One and 1/2 inch long bolts are on the edge in between perfect and too short. If I was going to start over n do it again I would stay with two inch bolts because of ease of assembly. Extra room to allow the addition of washers. Besides, who is gonna criticize a little extra bolt length on the back of a darn bird house...lol!You may be able to use #10 hardware, but that is serious overkill for a bird house.In sum, very well made, solid n heavy steel construction, fast shipping with prime, well packaged but will need some touch up painting (just spray the whole darn thing, it is easier), slip joint is very snug. Solid steel NOT hollow. I bought a second one after the first arrived. This item is that good. Worth every cent!PS- I paired this pole with a Stovall 2HU Ultimate Bluebird House also from Amazon. These two items work exceptionally well with each other. We received bird interest within two days.

The metal pole does not have holes in it so you can use the included screws to attach to the birdhouse. Unless you have a metal drill to make holes this is useless. This is from an order placed in May of 2014, so perhaps the pole has changed from earlier reviews.After further review and a reorder, the problem turned out to be a result of poor packing, as the box was not sealed properly and one of the poles came out and didn't arrive and also missing other small parts. Upon reorder from a marketplace seller and not Amazon it was packed much better and everything arrived.

Pole is well constructed BUT the houses are a bit wobbly once attached to the poles as directed.We may modify a bit to increase stability.Our GA clay soil is quite hard. It was difficult to get the bottom portion of the pole into the ground to desired level.Good product! Just need to make a few minor modifications.

Excellent Product. Solid metal pole (not hollow). Spade-like design at the bottom holds the pole firmly in the ground. Comes in 2 pieces. Easy to assemble. Had to drill an additional hole in the birdhouse for it to mount on the pre-drilled metal pole holes. Attaching a baffle to the metal pole was easy.Received a phenomenal email from the company before the pole was delivered providing contact information in the event there was any type of problem. Now, that's a company that understand customer service!

Update: I’ve sent multiple messages over a period of weeks with not response. This store will rip you off by sending incomplete products!!! Only sent lower portion of the two part system. Now I have to slep it to UPS not the UPS store at my expense and time. How hard is it to put two pieces in a box????? Waste of time and my money!!!

Perfect for a Bluebird House... and the pair of Bluebirds that moved in shortly thereafter have also approved of the location and signed a lease on the house. Good tenants! The Mounting Pole is about perfect... right height, good stability, easy to mount the house... couldn't ask for better!

I bought this Pole and " expected " it to come with a BIRDHOUSE !!! since the advertising clearly show a birdhouse and the Pole . the fine print however does indeed indicate that ..... one can mount any wooden birdhouse on it ..... SO...... this ad is completely misleading and I even consider it " FALLS ADVERTISING " !!! and to top it off.... this 58 inch pole cost $ 49.90 !!!!!!We will never buy any other product from this Company .

This 2 piece pole arrived less than 4 days after ordering. Although a post is ideal for bluebird houses, this was an excellent substitute. The back mounting seems to be more secure than under mounting and the stability blade keep the house well anchored.
