Lucy on the Loose (A Stepping Stone Book)

My 7 year old LOVES these Lucy books. Easy reading and cute stories to make kids WANT to read. Perfect!

I work with children who are either having problems reading or who are possibly having self esteem problems in the regular classroom. I bring my pet partner (bitsie a miniature daschund) into the school and the children (who are chosen by their teacher) read to her. I have been able to see them loose shyness and gain more confidence in their ability to read as the year has progressed. There are about 10 teams of dogs and their partners going into a local school and the kids really enjoy seeing them. I have found that short chapter book such as this are very good books for them to read.

Great chapter books for beginning readers. We picked the Lucy books because they were about a beagle. I was pleasantly surprised by the subplot. Lucy's owner, a boy named Bobby, is very shy. Bobby's struggles with his shyness are revealed in a way that's very accessible for young children.

My daughter loves all of the Lucy adventure books!

We love this series!

My six year old son enjoys the Absolutely Lucy series which takes a shy boy and an outgoing Beagle through a few life lessons where the boy works through his shyness and finds he can do more than imagined with Lidy by his side. My only complaint with this book is that the cat owner switches from saying "she" to "he" and flips between the two genders when talking about her cat. I know the books only cost $4.99 but you'd think the editors would have caught this glaring error. Overall I highly recommend the book series.

My seven year old loves these Lucy books. When we first bought them, we read them to him. Now he reads them himself. They are nicely done, good for their target audience. There is some discussion of the difficulties of being young while still allowing the book to be accessible to its target audience.

My three year old daughter is hooked on the Lucy novels. She loves to listen to the trouble that Lucy and her owner get into. We would recommend this novel as a great one to read with your kids no matter their age.
