Works best when used in combination with other remedies
I find the product does help, but I use it in combination with a tea tincture I make at home. The tea is essential and I have been using it for over a decade. I am not a bird expert so I do not want to make any recommendations. However, lately I have noticed many bird calming teas being marketed. I suggest do your own research and incorporate chamomile and other similar calming herbs to your birds daily diet--make a pot of tea and keep chilled and then diluted in the water at a 3 parts water to 1 part tea ratio and offer in place of plain water. I use human grade tea bags I get from the supermarket and it has been inexpensive and essential in keeping my little girl calm--she will be 23 this year!

You don’t have to live in fear
100% necessary for hormonal birdies. On the days I forget to add it to my bird’s water, an evil demon with wings possesses my sweet cockatiel and chases me around the house; I curse my life choices. Add a scoop to warm water, swish it to dissolve, and everyone’s life will be better. Bird does not seem to notice a taste or smell. I tried other options, like calming chamomile lavender lemon ball tea or bird CBD oil - they either did not work or would work but my bird would hate them and fight me on it.

It’s calming, not sedating
It’s really simple to use. You mix a little powder with clean water until it completely dissolves. I put just a little water in with the powder to mix it, before filling the water bowl. It does tend to leave clumps, if you mix it with too much water. It takes awhile for any kind of calming effect to build up. I haven’t noticed a reduction in my bird’s squawking, but I have noticed he is less aggressive. If you’re looking for something with a sedative-like effect, this is not the product. My 38-year-old parrot been on this product for several years now. The vendor gets dinged on this review for the packaging. The product used to come in a screw top jar with a measuring scoop. I’m glad I did not dispose of the last jar and scoop, because now the powder comes in a little pack that looks like cocaine.

Pretty expensive for 3 oz
I've got a young skittish parrot and I was hoping this powder would settle him down but he's been on it for almost a month and he is still as skittish as he was when I first got him. Maybe calming down a little bit but not enough to justify the cost of this powder. Pretty expensive for 3 oz. And it doesn't dissolve as well as expected in cold water.

Calming
Birdie loves this, and when I have lots of visitors, he's such a cutie.

Use at your own risk!
I bought this & stopped using it because not only was it not working, but it seemed to be possibly causing polyuria in one of my birds (I was supplementing 2 birds-did not work for either). I researched about Maltodextrin, which is the other ingredient in this product & after speaking to my avian specialist vet it is NOT something anyone should be giving to their birds! Maltodextrin is worse than regular table sugar as far as causing insulin spikes & is highly inflammatory & causes GI inflammation in animals & humans. Why this is used as the base for this product is beyond me! My vet always recommends low sugar/low carb diets for parrots that especially have skin & feather issues, stress, etc. due to the inflammatory issues with sugar. Limited high sugar fruits & high carb like sweet potatoes, corn, etc., because high carb converts to sugar. For those who want to try supplementing with L-Theanine, you are better off puchasing it in pure powder form with no fillers, no GMO, no gluten, etc., which can be found on here. I have already made Amazon customer service aware of the issue of this ingredient & I hope that they will choose not to sell this product. Per my avian vet: cut down on sugar in the bird's diet if they are undergoing stress (ie. plucking, screaming, agitation, molting, hormones, fear, allergies, skin issues, etc.) because you will just exacerbate the problem by adding more internal inflammation with sugar & causing blood sugar levels to spike.

Works!!
It's been 3 weeks and I can already see a difference!! I bought this formula for one of my birds we've had her for about 2 months she seemed to be little aggressive and very agitated by her toys and it would scream and yell all day.. let me remind you I work from home so she's always around me and my other birds but I feel like she just needed a little bit of help .and I already noticed a difference she can actually sit in her cage play with toys and seems a lot more relaxed.. I don't expect her to be completely quiet she is a parrot but I can tell already that she feels more content and just overall a lot more easy-going as well this is amazing product!

27 Year Old Cockatiel Feels Better After Four Days!
I ordered this along with the feather growth supplement for my precious 27 year old cockatiel. He's been with me since he was just nine weeks old, and until 2018, had a full body of healthy, full feathers. Our lives changed drastically when my husband was diagnosed with a rare and incurable form of leukemia. Life and survival suddenly got very expensive and stressful (something birds easily pick up on), and I started working as much overtime as possible. My sweet little 'tiel stopped getting the out of cage time he was used to his entire life. He started plucking. I swore none of my birds would ever become pluckers, but here we are anyway. Luckily, my schedule is now back on track with less OT. My 'tiel is getting the attention he thrives on again, and after just four days on both supplements, he has new little pin feathers emerging and for the first time in two years, he's singing his happy songs again and not just incessantly screeching. I will buy these products forever. Thank you for helping to make my geriatric birdy's life a lot better. We are amazed by the quick results and are eternally grateful!
