IcomHM-167 Speaker Mic - Waterproof

I've used this mic a few times now. I have had no issues with it. When not at the helm, I like having it with at all times.

So I am using this in a splashy wet environment. Other radios sound fine on the speaker. Good fidelity and loud. However when the mic is wet, nobody can understand what I'm saying. Works fine when it is dry. I tried tapping the excess water and blowing into the mic before I use it but still sounds bad when wet. I called Icom and they said the only thing I could do is tap the mic with the palm of my hand before using it. Still get mixed results when doing so.

Perfect, as expected

I work on a dredge, the radio is great! The mic sux, if any background noise is near, nobody can hear you. If winches, gensets are running, that's all you hear. It's a shame, radio is excellent, great range. It needs a noise canceling mic. I have the HM 167. Is there a noise canceling mic? I need one. HELP! Although if there's any background noise you won't hear me, only the winches running!

I’ll write a review once I receive the product but I never second guess Icom products
